I love the number of features it has, particularly the altitude for which the purchase was made. But it has also has a primitive GPS interface that gives direction back to a point.Two cautions: Most usbc charging cables do not work with this device. The one supplied has a extra long metal insert length that seems to go deep enough into the case to charge. So dedicate this one to this device, but should be better designed to handle normal length usb. Also, some of the setting and features have a convoluted and difficult to remember sequence to get them to work. For instance, to turn on GPS, or to set one of the return points. Lots of non-intuitive sequences of button presses.

Unit has no power button. I managed to power it up after using THEIR type C cord, which extends farther into the port to overcome a design flaw in the plug. However, the instructions are abysmal, clearly written by someone who doesn't understand the English language. Very difficult to navigate and use for anything but basic functions.

Good for the price

I charged this for a few hours, until it showed a half battery charge on its indicator. At that point the led flashlight did not work at all. I ran through a number of the functions, some seemed to work okay, it was hard to tell at the time. A few minutes later the screen went blank. I had been trying to test out the function for only ten minutes on half a battery charge.I suspect that many of the functions did not work, if the first few did not. Given the number of negative reviews, I decided to return it immediately. This is not a GPS as advertised, for what I could tell. There was no indication of linking up with a satellite or an indicated geo position. I'm not sure how it can be listed or labeled as one.

If you're looking for a pocket sized scientific instrument...This probably isn't for you. It's more of something to give you an idea of what is happening when you're outside. In order for it to benefit you most you should calibrate the compass and altimeter or barometer when you get to your spot/start your hike. If you travel far or cover ground quickly it will affect accuracy, and you'll need to recalibrate.When you're out in the field, calibrate the device by entering the altitude of your location. Chances are you wouldn't be able to reckon your barometric pressure, but figuring out your altutude can be pretty easy with a topo map or real GPS.Do not purchase this as your primary compass, GPS, or anything you need to rely on. It is capable of providing you a little insight into the weather, your altitude, and the possibility of weather changes.
