Not perfect but what is?
They are sturdier than they look and actually do help a lot i many cases. Like all things they aren't ideal for every situation but they work well enough for me to say they where worth the purchase for what I do. I work a lot with 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8" marine fuel, oil and water hoses that connect to barbed fittings and are generally harder to get off without cutting than automotive hoses. If the hose is long enough to cut and reconnect or easy enough to replace the entire hose that is OK but if the hose replacement will cost much more time and, marine fuel hose is a lot more expensive than automotive hose, this tool can help a lot. I am not sure just what type of hose they are actually designed for but for my use they help.

Does the job perfectly!
Took a chance on these hose pilers. I had fuel hoses stuck on a fuel filter which are probably 30 years old. These pliers removed the hoses easily from the fittings and made the job very easy.
