Does the neck seal tight so if showering upright it would keep water from getting to my back brace underneath it?

You might consider placing a small towel in a u shape around your neck to absorb any water before fastening and turn the cape to open to the front as it overlaps quite a bit.

Does it cover back side nicely?

It covers up to mid back-I have a salon chair so its not an issue but it guess its not very low.
