Tiny but great!
It's tiny, but man, it does the job. I use it for banjo, but should work for mandolin.

I have guitar capos and this one is so tiny in comparison, it also work great.

Great quality, Perfect Size
This capo is the perfect size for my standard-sized mandolin. The twist-tighten style is great because you can tighten it enough to get the sound just right, and is narrow enough that you can move it to the exact spot in the fret that will give you the ideal intonation for your specific instrument, without getting in the way of your hand. It also has nice padding on the undersized so as to not scratch the delicate coating of the wood. I really enjoy using this capo and appreciate that it allows my mando to maintain a beautiful tone/sound even when used higher on the fretboard.

My goto capo on my thick necked banjo.
Actually surprised how much I like this capo. I have a number of others, mostly Shubbs (original and deluxe) and I like them just fine as well as a G7. I have one banjo, an 80's Washburn B-18 archtop that has a very thick neck and none of my other banjo capos work well on it...always feels like the clamp is going to squeeze too hard. I've used a guitar capo on the B-18 for awhile, but never felt it did the job very well. For some reason, this little, light weight capo, clamps nicely onto the B-18 neck without a problem and with minimal effort. It's so small, I often forget to take it off before I put my banjo in it's case, but that's just a habit thing I need to work out. While I'm playing, does fit nicely into my jeans pocket-watch pocket (the small pocket inside your right front pocket) and I can also straddle it's "U" shape between two resonator holes, though your mileage may vary on that...and if you try that, be careful it does not slip its way into one of the holes falling into the resonator itself...I've come close, but know how to avoid that now on my banjo.

A little "pricey", but the best capo I have owned!!
Got this for my mandolin because this capo is precision and allows for fine adjustment with a small, knurled tightener on the end. Made out of aircraft aluminum and excellent quality. Also, it does not get in the way of your fingers when making chords, which is the main reason I bought it.Now that I know how good it works, will get one of more for the guitars the grand kids and I play. These guitar capos are a little bigger but the same design and quality I would guess.

Very nice capo, but too short for my banjo
I really like the design of this capo, it's very simple and easy to use. To put on and remove the capo you just tighten or loosen the thumbscrew. Giving it 3 stars only because unfortunately the neck on my banjo is just *barely* too wide for this capo to fully reach the 1st string. This probably won't be a problem for most people, but I'm using this on a long neck banjo which ends up being a bit too wide higher up the neck. If you're unsure, check my photo and you can see this capo has a reach of just over 1 1/4 inches. If you have the same problem as me, I highly recommend getting the Planet Waves NS Ukulele Capo — it's identical to this capo but just a bit longer, instead having a 1 1/2 inch reach and it's perfect for my application!

It's so tiny!!
"It's so tiny!!" was the first thing out of my mouth when I got this in the mail. It is so tiny compared to a guitar capo which is what we were used to. The craftsmanship is top notch, the thing is indestructible. It really is perfect for a mandolin (which is what we have) and its so nice to have one that is no larger then it needs to be! It is incredibly low profile and does not intrude on your play-ability. Works great for what its made for!The fact you can twist the knob and have it basically lock down is great as well since it makes the hold really secure. With guitar ones I have seem them wear out and not clamp down hard enough. I feel like because of how this one tightens that it will never lose its ability to grip the strings.Only one negative: It would be the same as its greatest strength. It is tiny! I would imagine it being super easy to leave on a table or put in a pocket while not in use and then forget where you left it. As long as you put it in your case though you will be good to go the next time you need it!
