iParaAiluRy New Laptop CPU Cooling Fan for IBM Lenovo Thinkpad X60 X61 42X3805

This fan was a direct replacement for the original fan on my X61. It worked perfectly well, and fit great.Only catch is: it is a complex process to install. If you are a complete novice at laptop hardware, I'm not sure you would be able to do it yourself. I had to remove the frame/keyboard, disconnect a number of internal components such as the screen ribbon, the antenna connectors, etc. The fan was actually mounted on the under-side of the mother board, so I had to disconnect the motherboard and gently flip it over (I was trying to minimize the number of things I disconnected/took apart) and then finally got access to the fan to replace it.It's definitely doable, but again, I wouldn't recommend it for a novice. Also, make sure you have the right sized screw-drivers, because if you strip the screws that connect this fan, you'd be -- well, screwed. (No pun intended). There are a couple of good forum posts I found that helped me through the process, but no youtube walkthrough, like you might be used to for other things.Once installed, though, it's working fantastically. It's brought my computer back to perfectly usable state, which is amazing considering it's 8 years old at this point!

Good news first: the delivery was ok. But then this product started to rattle inside my laptop very soon after the installation, in less than a month; a fan error occurred. When I returned to my Amazon account to find out Amazon's replacement/warranty policies, I found a short notification: "This item is no longer eligible for return". Naturally I'm very disappointed in this poor item and especially in Amazon's warranty policies.

I don't use my Lenovo X61 for much these days. It's just some spare cycles I devote to SETI. Nevertheless, the fans was original and was starting to make some extremely annoying sounds. It needed to replaced if I was going to keep my sanity. The new cooling fan is exactly what I needed to fix my issue. Be warned...you have to take a out a lot of screws and mess with a few wires to get this thing installed.

Awesome replacement (fit) for my old lenovo thinkpad x61. Finally, no nasty noises to freak labmates out. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to the whole machine apart, but all you really need to do is remove the screws and lightly pull the old fan out!

Totally did not work in my X60 at all. The fan in my X60 is actually metal and part of a larger metal structure. There is no way this fan works on an X60... I tried to make it work and wasted hours..

it works, what else can you say!

This was not the right style or type of fan for the laptop that they stated. It is also made very very cheaply made and broke the instant I removed it from the package. I ended up just buying a new laptop instead.
