Easy to build with these. Very sturdy. Look good.
1) Put gravel or cement blocks or bricks or ? at the bottom to level the ground. Remember, you want that top step from stringer to deck surface to match the height of the stringer steps... 7.5 inches. Add gravel or dig to get that to match.2) Cut 2"x12" treads (ours are 4' wide) and fasten them with metal washers and deck screws from underneath.3) Use a level on a tread to mark the exact desired height of holes in the side of the deck. Get the stairs level front to back and side to side.4) Bolt stringer to the side of the deck. It's easy. Looks nice and neat. Very stable.Built a stand alone set of stairs too. Was a bit harder to create the "wall" for the stringer to fasten to but it's solid as a rock. Can pick up the whole stairwell and move. Looks nice. Is a perfect solution. Added a rail. Handrail screws are now countersunk, filled with wood putty, and varnished so folks don't get splinters. Cedar fence board "wall" on other side is not shown in picture.Everybody loves the standalone stairs. It's a frequently used shortcut that is so much easier than hopping the wall (which the little dog cannot do).

Sturdy and easy stairs quickly
I wanted to build my own hot tub steps when I saw how much they wanted for cheap plastic ones and these worked great. I used 2x12 for treads with 4 foot spread without need for third riser. These were sturdy with great coat of black epoxy coating. Only minor ding is I wanted risers at back of treads and had to drill my own holes because I wanted a more finish look but then if you didn’t want that you would have unused holes if it came predrilled so can’t really fault the design.

Good value
The bases could have been wider/longer for better ground board stability. Could use dimples to locate holes for carriage bolt top mounting.

Affordable way to build a staircase
These risers were a great purchase! We are in the process of building a cabin and the cost of lumber is ridiculous!!! This was the perfect solution for us and they are awesome!! Very sturdy, will never rot and they look really good!!! We have received lots of compliments on them. We also have a 3 step set on the side of the porch. I would highly recommend this product!

Better than the big box store's precut stairs
The original stairs to our deck felt wrong when we bought the house so we wanted to replace them. We bought the precut stairs at a certain major chain and they were just as awkward as the original. The height wasn't quite right. Didn't know until we tried to put them together after painting them with deck over to match the existing deck. We put these together in an afternoon and they feel so comfortable and sturdy. No more tripping. Have 2 other steps I plan to replace with these!

Average craftsmanship but sturdy
One of the two three-step risers I received were slightly twisted. I was able correct the request using some clamps. Overall, the product appears to be sturdy enough.
