This is an altered product. It IS NOT what is advertised. Mine too smells of harsh alcohol and it is separating where it does not blend.It is NOT the product I bought in the store. Having trouble getting a refund as well. They’ve designated it ‘not returnable’ to hide their scam.

Not at all like what I bought at the store. Trying to return and very disappointed in the product. Do Not Buy.

Alterna makes some of my favorite hair products. But like every brand they have some amazing products, some ok products, and some duds. In my opinion this Alterna Caviar anti aging infinite color hold topcoat spray falls into the just ok category.First, this spray does give your hair a nice shine to it, but it’s way to easy to go overboard. When this happens your left with greasy looking hair that looks like it has not been washed in days. The problem is both the product and the pump they use. It’s just to concentrated and strong of a spray for something like this. If it was a super fine mist instead then it would work much better.The only way I can get this to work for me is if I spray into my hand, rub my hands together, then distribute from mid length to ends. While this does get me the look I want without looking like a greasy mess, it still is not perfect. If you are planning on going one more day after using this without taking a shower, then that’s not going to happen. You can only use this stuff if your planning on taking a shower that night or the next morning. Overall it does do what it says, but there’s just so many negatives to using it that I don’t use it very often. I would still recommend it but I would advise you to play with it and see what works for you. And don’t use it for the first time when you have to run out the door right after because you may end up needing to wash your hair again!

Highlights and all-over color from a salon can be really expensive. So if this product will help protect my investment, I'm all for it!Ok, I just spritzed it clean dry hair. For this review, I'm working on one side only. Lesson learned: you don't need to use much - use it sparingly! I saw instant results - no joke. It doesn't feel greasy, but had I used more and gone closer to the roots it would. My hair is softer, shinier, and it really does feel coated. As you get older, your hair tends to lose some of it's shine. With these results, I can understand why they call it anti-aging. I bet this would also work wonders on your hair if it's frizzy or curly. This feels like the magic stuff they use at a salon when giving your hair it's finishing touches. You know how you can never replicate that salon look because no matter what you buy, it's just not the same stuff? I think I just found it! I sprayed it like 4 or 5 times on one side which was too much. Next time I'll just spray once or twice after my hair is all styled. I like the scent and the way it makes my hair feel.

I’m not normally a fan of hair products that contain cyclopentasiloxane and alcohol, the first two ingredients listed in this Color Hold topcoat spray. Then again, I’ve never had any Alterna product let me down, so I gave this one a try. What a pleasant surprise—those two ingredients seem to counterbalance each other in a very complementary way. Cyclopentasiloxane is a silicon based polymer that gives hair products a slippery, lightweight feel. I’ve usually been disappointed with those type products—they do add shine but I hate their slick feel. And alcohol is too drying on my hair.Leave it to Alterna to combine the two in a special formulation—with this I get a very nice shine that lacks that slickness, and offers a more texturized appearance. I have short, layered blonde hair (dyed) with differing shades of color—this highlights the different strands in a very pretty way without drying my hair whatsoever. I get best results by spraying a bit in the palms of my hands and then gently raking through hair. The end result is a natural, tousled look with excellent shine that nicely accentuates hair strands and layers.

I'm always looking for good hair products for my color treated hair. I Recently found this Alterna brand that seems formulated especially for damaged hair. I'm currently using this Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Infinite Color Hold Topcoat Spray for Color Treated Hair. It has a nice scent and makes my damaged hair a lot smoother and shinier! I lightly spray it on my damp hair from about eight inches from my hair and let it gently fall onto my hair without overloading it with product. This is more of an oil mist so you have to be careful not to use too much product. You can then style as usual. The result is very nice smooth hair that hides my damaged ends. I look forward to trying other products in this line!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this product, but after using it I realized it's basically hair oil being dispensed in a fine mist. It adds shine, but you do have to be careful not to direct it too close to your hair or you'll end up with a greasy spot. The scent is light and fruity and seems to dissipate fairly quickly. On my curly hair which can appear dry, this product helped to give it a more tamed, moisturized look.I like it. If used sparingly, it can add shine without leaving your hair looking oily. I do think those with thin hair may want to spray into their hands and work the product into the midshaft to ends of their hair instead of spraying directly onto their heads.
