Wanted to use this to backlight a wooden sign that I made. These do not emit any sort of light. There is no "glow" The stand illuminates, and that is it. If you want to see the light, you have to be able to see the strand.If I put my sign over rope light, I can see the light without seeing the rope light because it actually throws light.If I put my sign over this, I can't see anything. Even with all the lights off and windows closed.

Less than 1 star. We ordered these expecting 9 foot of rope lights. What we got was spaghetti string thats battery operated. HORRIBLE MISREPRESENTATION OF A PRODUCT!!!

Ordered the DC version. Mine came with a battery pack.
Have yet to try to return the item as I've been away from it - but ordered the DC version, got one with a battery pack. Intentionally wanted a DC or USB powered item to backlight my monitor. So, useless.
