Excellent board.Oil it and use itOne year later:I originally gave this product 2 stars because it developed a split after a few weeks. I filled the split with filler and wood glue and the split has not lengthened . I do oil and condition it frequently. I use it daily and love it. I don’t think you can over-oil any cutting board! All wooden boards deserve care. It looks great. Highly recommended. I have changed my review to 5 stars.Oct 2020; I bought this board 2 years ago an use it daily. I repaired a split that developed not long after I bought it and oil it monthly. It is a reliable board. No further splits since my repair. This is a great product! Highly recommended.Feb 22:I’ve used this board daily for two years. I repaired the early split with epoxy with no further problem. I oil it about once-a-month with food grade mineral oil and have screwed in 4 rubber feet to the bottom just to keep it from slipping. There’s no warping at all.I love it.Follow up 2022:I bought this board a few years ago and was disappointed when it developed a split after a short time. I repaired the split following directions found on the internet and have used it daily since. No further splits or other problems.I oil and clean it when it looks like it needs it. Maybe once every month in dry Colorado. It is a reliable board!!Highly recommended!!

Fantastic Cutting Board
I purchased the 24 Inches Wide by 18 Inches Deep by 1-1/2 Inches board. First, this is a well made cutting board made in the USA at half the price of many other boards. It is solid (1 1/2 inches thick). Yes, it is an unfinish piece of wood work that needs to be oiled and if you want a quick pass of fine sand paper. Mine did not really need any sanding. On the one side that has the drip channel routed out, the cross grain exposed from routing out of the channel is a little ruff (as expected) and if you wish hit it with some fine sand paper. It took me more time to walk out to the garage for a piece of sand paper than quickly going over the board before conditioning the surface with oil . All wood cutting boards should be condition with a cutting board grade oil/paste. Do not be put off by the comments of splinters. If you look at some the pictures claiming splinters, they look like a picture of an unfinish piece of wood with fine fuzz that needs a quick pass of sand paper. This large cutting board is going to be my go to board for preparing brisket and ribs on my smoker. But is beautiful enough for any kitchen. If you are in the market for a heavy duty cutting board at a good price, just buy it.

LOVE this cutting board
I frequently buy meat in large or whole cuts to split up and repackage. My old cutting board was just too small for these large cuts of meat. This hefty piece has been great! It easily accommodates what I purchase to cut up. The board came in great condition; its not super smooth, but the one I received did not have the issues previous reviewers cited (splinters?), and I didn't have to do any additional sanding or smoothing. There are no cracks or gaps and the pieces are butted tightly up against each other. I prefer a board that's not ultra smooth - the meat cuts don't slide around. It is 25 lbs., though, so I won't be hauling it over to the sink to wash it very often (it wouldn't fit anyway). I clean it the way I clean my countertops. Love the look of it. I purchased a beeswax mix to season it and I've not had any problems using this. It's thicker than most, absorbing shock from pounding or chopping. You'll pay twice as much for a board this size, with a thinner profile, from another manufacturer.

Amazing quality. No compromises!
I got the 20 inch cutting board, and it’s wonderful. I read some reviews and was prepared for an onerous sanding job, but it was no big deal at all. I did just a bit of fine sanding when I got it, and I definitely oiled it with a non-mineral-based oil. After a month of using it, I’m very happy with its no-compromises quality. It’s straight-up old-school quality. You can feel the quality in its heft. And the fact that it’s made of real hardwoods from the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York, where I grew up, makes it all the better. Every time I use it, it makes me happy.

Very nice piece!
Beautiful wood grain solid and very heavy. I bought this as a gift and would definitely buy again.

Big, heavy, quality cutting board. If you need big and heavy, this one qualifies.
I needed to replace a big Chicago Cutlery board that was cracking after a few years (to be fair, I fell behind on my oiling duties after a while). I wanted a nice, big wooden cutting board for the kitchen with a little juice groove like I had on the one it is replacing. I didn't want to spend a ton, but I also didn't want a questionable Chinese product with a bunch of "free product for honest review" B.S. I found one in good shape through Amazon's "used" market at a great price. So far, I love the board. Only complaint is that it is much heavier than the old one. More a problem for my wife, who does a lot of the day-to-day kitchen cooking. But the next time I need to break down a bird or slice up a whole brisket, I'll reach straight for this bad boy. The wood is hard enough to resist light cuts and damage but soft enough to preserve my knife edge when I'm really going at it. It's thick enough that I'll have no problem sanding it over and over if the surface picks up too many slice wounds. The color is looking great. I just hope I can remember to keep up the mineral oil regimen and make this one last.

The quality is not the same
I had my first one of these and it was beautiful. I burned it so I ordered this one - same product, same manufacturer - it is rough as if it weren't sanded correctly and soaks up everything. I have oiled it and done everything I can think of to smooth it out so it's not like raw wood - but no luck. Not sure why they were so different but with this one I am disappointed

This cutting board is BIG
Large wooden cutting board. Great Quality but we actually stopped using this because of its size and hand washing requirement. We have since purchased a thin machine washable cutting board for everyday use.Great for Thanskgiving or other large gatherings but not worth the cleaning process.
