Plumas baratas y buenas

Much Better then One Would ThinK!
Okay, so I think I have tried just about all of these pen models now and can provide a qualified opinion. Overall, many of these pens are an unbelievable value--as far as a writing instrument is concerned. Remember that the Montblancs and other premium pens use better materials in their components and have high quality manufacturing compared to these chinese pens. And the use of real gold does drive prices way up. China has the absolute worst manufacturing practices in the world. But this doesn't mean all of their companies are pathetic--just most of them. I have no idea why any country would fear a war with them--none of their equipment would work properly or last more than a few days before falling apart. Even with these inexpensive pens, some companies do better than others. With the Jinhao pens it is luck-of-the-draw and it is not always the more expensive the better. They see to make most of the other brands too. I have compared some of these pens side-by-side with the real deal and can honestly say with a few them, there is not much of a difference when writing. The best I found are the Jinhao 159s--the big, fat Montblanc Meisterstuck 149-- almost replica. I really like them for writing. Let's be clear, these are not replicas in the watch knock-off chinese tradition--not a copy or trying to be. But also understand, not all of of these Jinhao 159s are the same. I did have opportunity to compare exact models with each other and found no two were exactly the same. I am referring to how they write, only. But I also found the bad ones could be adjusted and many of the mfg. glitches were easily remedied. One common issue pertains to the plunger/converter. They're plastic and pretty cheap. They really do not require the tight seal that seems logical. My Montblancs have extremely fine threads and screw in precisely--the Jinhao and even Parker, Lamy and Pilot are nothing like them. With the Jinhao, I found if I released the vacuum by loosening the "seal" a bit at the connection to the pen (wiggling it slightly looser), it worked and sucked up the ink nicely. I also recognized to be sure and submerge the pen far enough into the inkwell or bottle (entire nib assembly). Some nibs have flow issues. On the web, there are a few descriptions of quick fixes to relieve excess material from the ink channels, etc. I just heated some water in a small pot and dipped the nib section in with plunger connected and did a mock fill-up with the hot water--a few times screwing plunger in and out slowly. Use a quality, lint free cloth to dry/polish. Every one of the inexpensive pens I have gotten works great now except the one I picked up via ebay. It was supposed to be new but it has a crimped ink feeder tube and there is epoxy residue hindering ink flow. Will be my last ebay purchase--Amazon is night/day superior. Plus, Amazon's exceptional customer service (the call centers in the US only), will always quickly replace anything they ship/fulfill and keep doing so until you receive a good quality unit. They even set up free return labels and UPS pick-up. AND...they were extremely efficient during this busy, holiday gift-giving season. Cheers!
