Came with the cover ripped off
I love the material. I was very disappointed to open the package and see a ripped book cover. I'm a little surprised Amazon would mail out such an obviously damaged product.

Great Speeches for Toastmasters
Hi... I bought this book as I joined a toastmasters club to improve my existing public speaking skills. This is a book which contains many great speeches by eminent people. If you are looking for a book that is essential, buy this one. There are very good speeches and you can learn a lot about speech craft. I read the whole book within three sittings and this book helped me a lot. I know how to speak but I understand that public speaking is an art. You can master the art of public speaking by reading this book. The good thing is you can experience a variety of topics written in simple, moderate and advanced English. Do not be afraid. If you find some speeches difficult to understand, reread them so that you can understand them. This is like a handbook on public speaking. There are very stimulating speeches which you may not have heard in your life. Read this book. You will be surprised. The price is right and it is worth the few dollars you spend. It is worth reading as well. The speeches vary in style and length. Some speeches run into 1500 words while others run into 3000 words like. However, it is very easy to read a speech within 15 minutes. If you read a speech a day, within a short period of time you will have read all the speeches.Good luck!Susil Manchanayaka, B. I am a sucker for great oratory, however...
The greatness of these speeches is who and when these speeches were given. These speeches are not necessarily great oratory. Sniff.

A Good Collection.
This is a straightforward and substantial anthology: No excess, no nonsense. The book is arranged in chronological order, beginning with Roosevelt's "The Natural Wonder of the Grand Canyon" (May 6, 1903), and ending with Barack Obama's Election-Night Speech (November 5, 2008). While a good deal of the speeches are political, some cover social topics, such as gender rights and religion. Perhaps one might question a few of the selections, but I'm not going impose my own personal opinion on that on the rest of the world. All things considered, this is a terrific way to spend $3.50 (or less).

It would be good to have an audio version to actually listen to ...
Inspiring. Well chosen speeches. I start to imagine how the delivery, speech, intonation etc might have been delivered. It would be good to have an audio version to actually listen to the speakers. Maybe this exists in other media options.Saw the Churchill movie recently but hadn’t figured on the Gary Oldman delivery. Powerful.

Insightful
Interesting reading... it really gave a tremendous insight into the times that the speeches were delivered. Exemplifies how our standards, ethics and moral thinking has changed over the decades!
