Most rugged box available for mounting ceiling fans.
This is the most rugged ceiling fan box available (rated over 100 lbs). It requires attic access to install. It has plenty of space for wires (1-1/2" depth), built-in wire clamps and uses solid steel threaded inserts riveted to the back of the box to mount the fan. Installation takes just a bit longer since the box is not circular (requires using drywall saw to cut opening). Otherwise I find these boxes to take the same amount of time to install as more expensive retrofit boxes using an expandable support. The trick is, cut the opening, insert the box from the attic side and install a 2x4 between ceiling joists using temporary 1" spacers between the 2x4 and drywall to guarantee the proper spacing.

Perfect For Ceiling Fans!
I bought 6 of the Westinghouse Lighting 0105000 Saf-T-Box, 1-1/2 Inch Deep.These are perfect for supporting all the ceiling fans we recently got! We did not want to buy the plastic ones and we have always had great luck with Westinghouse products. These are nice quality and we are very happy with them.

Very well made ceiling fan support box.
Excellent product for installing ceiling fans. Easy to install. Supports ceiling fans without a chance of them falling. Just follow instructions and a person should not have any problems. Screws are provided. I like the quality of the product, made with good quality metal.

Defective out of the box
The box comes with 10/24 screws to mount the ceiling fan to the box with 2 internal posts. Unfortunately only 1 of the 2 posts was threaded. I had to tap the 2nd post myself.Boo.
