Very happy with this earpiece!
I run sound at my church and we bought this for the pastor to use and we have used it for almost a year. Sound is good and our pastor REALLY likes how much more securely the earpiece holds in place than the cheaper Pyle Pro earpieces we had been using in the past. The Pyle Pro earpieces would slip enough that our pastor would have to adjust it several times during a service. Since using this, I don't think he has had to adjust it once during a service. I originally was hesitant to buy this because of the price but it has been worth it because of the more secure fit.I learned one lesson the hard way. We are using this with a Shure body pack transmitter so we had to use one of the included adaptors. I had read another review where someone said you should tape the adapter to the plug from the earpiece to make sure they didn't come apart. Well, I didn't have time to tape them together before the first time we used it, and, sure enough the plug pulled out of the adaptor causing some crackling and popping. I taped the adaptor to the plug after our first church service and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Please don't make the same mistake I did if you have to use an adaptor. One other positive note. The wire on the Pyle Pro earpieces we had used before would break right at the strain relief after about 6 months so we would have to replace them. So far, this one has not had a problem and, even if it does, you can buy a replacement cable, rather than replace the whole earpiece.

Wonderfully Forgettable
The wearers forget they're wearing them, ...the audience forgets that there are microphones involved ...and you'll soon forget what they cost.Although all the other head-worn omni's I've used over the years have been significantly more expensive, NONE have survived equivalent usages as unscarred as the Samson SE-50's I've been using since they arrived many months ago...Which would be irrelevant if they didn't sound any good. They do.I've found them to sound nothing short of superb and would unhesitatingly recommend them for any SPOKEN WORD application. In my experience, spending from a third more to twice as much will indeed get you a head-worn omni that will also handle the very loudest of percussive and/or sung bass transients without distortion, whereas the SE50's diaphragms won't.(That's why I've deducted a star.)However, parting with that extra cash will also get you some headworn omni's thata) Are nowhere near as comfortable,b) Don't fit and stay in place nearly as well,c) Won't as readily shrug off moisture andd) Don't arrive "ready to plug into" nearly all belt-pack transmitters. The Samson SE50 is also unique in that its "bowstring-style" behind one ear D-mount can both be stretched and moved around its armature to accommodate all shapes, sizes and acrobatics, with total freedom from the comfort and styling issues that attend other headworn systems. In addition, the mic's boom will survive repeated bending and straightening, ...even to the extent of an "S-bend" shortening for youngsters. One little "tip": ...A very carefully applied drop or two of clear silicone sealant (from the end of a toothpick or similar) onto the side of the miniature mic's capsule is a very effective way of retaining the tiny foam windgag. That silicone "goo" is easy to scrape off and re-apply when replacement is eventually needed.Although Samson (again, uniquely) includes spares and replacements are fairly cheap, I routinely do this to avoid the accidental mid-show loss of a "popper-stopper".Once again, set and forget.Which leaves but one quandary...Can a mic (or anything else) be memorably forgettable?

Better than Mics 4X More
We purchased this for the church where I pastor, and I use this mic exclusively. It beats out microphones that are 4X the cost. I love the fit and feel, the cameras like how it disappears in the video, and my audio guy loves the sound. It is packaged nicely in a case, and they are thoughtful enough to add 3 windscreens, as you are sure to lose at least one before long. Overall a great purchase, with wonderful results.

Failed after 8 mo. Do not send this to support, they won't send it back.
After 8 months of use, it suddenly failed during a shoot during a lunch break (working just fine, set on a counter, came back, and wouldn't work (swapped it around with another SE50, and the other SE50 still worked, but the broken SE50 didn't work with any wireless pack)But that isn't what is bad. I contacted them in November of 2015 asking for a rush rma ("send me a new one, I will send you the broken one") because I had another shoot in another week. They denied this. So I bought another one, and sent back the other product. It was confirmed delivered on November 16th to Samson repairs. I contacted them on November 23rd asking about the status. They replied back on December 1st, saying that it should take another week. I lost track of it. January, I remembered and contacted them on January 17th. Then again on January 18th. Again on January 20th. I have still not heard back from any of these three emails. It is now nearly 4 months since I sent it into a repair, and I have not received any contact yet about it.Shame, too. Because it is an exceptionally good sounding microphone. .

Great sound, poor equipment quality
I bought this 2 years ago and have used it maybe 30 times for public speaking. The sound quality is great, but after maybe a dozen uses, problems began. It started with bursts of loud static and/or the sound just cutting out completely. At first, tightening the connection between wire and adaptor worked. But both problems worsened and now I can't go 5 minutes without a disruption. A couple of AV people told me the wires are so thin that they break easily with repeated use. I love the convenience of the earset mic, so I'm ordering the slightly larger SE10. Will see if it lasts longer. <30 uses for an item that cost nearly $200 [the SE50] just doesn't work for me.
