This is a must read life changer! Yes, life is tough sometimes, but so are we. And so are you.
WOW. I don't usually write reviews, but felt compelled to for this book. This story is so honest, so real, so funny, and so heart wrenching that it demands a thank you. “The Addicted Lawyer” is a great read!! It's a heartbreaking to read at some points and a hard book to put down at all times. The writing is honest, quick paced, vivid, and witty, sort of a “heartfelt guide to addiction", a page turner that has you wondering whether you want to know what happens next at some points, as you root for Brian and his friends that have made this journey. This is the type of book I believe everyone should read so we can understand the effects drugs have on people. It helped me understand the hardships starting when you are a young adult into adulthood that people go through and just how easy it is to fall into the drug world.Reading it has reminded me importance of a strong support system. This book is really two books in one: A fabulous read offering an authentic, compelling and insightful firsthand look into the world of addiction and serves a dual component as a compassionate and accountable companion for anyone's journey on the path to sobriety. Thank you Brian Cuban for sharing your story!I really can’t speak highly enough of both of Brian Cuban’s books - "The Addicted Laywer" and "Shattered Image: My Triumph Over Body Dysmorphic Disorder" Both page turners are very down to earth, affable and filled with life wisdom. So many golden nuggets in this collection, I can’t even begin to put them down here. But I can say this – both his books spoke to me on a very deep, personal level and I feel almost compelled to make some real changes in my life. This book helped me get off to a good start.Yes, life is tough sometimes, but so are we. And so are you.

Fantastic, yet frightening
Brian Cuban’s book gives an emotionally honest and, at times, horrifying look into the world of addiction. It also provides insight into how a lawyer with an addiction can hide that fact - from their coworkers, clients, family, and even themselves.Importantly, ‘The Addicted Lawyer’ goes on to suggest solutions for lawyers and law students struggling with addiction. It also provides practical ideas on how to help for the organizations around them, such as bar associations, law firms, and universities.Cuban’s writing is excellent and highly personal. Without his direct, readable approach, this book might have devolved into a string of drug and alcohol horror stories. Instead, Cuban paints an honest and ultimately uplifting portrait of addiction and recovery. As he writes near the end of the book, “As long as you are above ground, both recovery and living redemption are possible.”I highly recommend ’The Addicted Lawyer.’ If you or someone you know is battling addiction, it might point out a path to success. If you don’t know anyone fighting addiction, it will make you thankful for that fact.

Always good to read I wasn’t the only one
I’m not a lawyer but Brian’s story resonates with me, I graduated with a degree in accounting for the same reasons (or non reasons) he went to law school. Faked my way into a public accounting firm, hated it, and was fired three months later.Went back to school for dental school requirements and basically ended up in dental school for the same non reasons all the while hoping the rigors would fix me.The first 15 years as a practicing dentist I was a functioning alcoholic who never quite bottomed out.I quit reading the book when it went into all the recovery stuff because I somehow self recovered and now drink “normally “ and not that much. I have two adult kids who barely drink and two grandkids. I’m one of the lucky ones maybe because I acknowledged I had a problem early on.I really related to the low self esteem, anxiety and depression. It helps me to read stories like Brian’s. Thanks Brian .

Each of these stories are very detailed and written in a personal way that makes the reader feel like he or she was there
Brian Cuban's "The Addicted Lawyer" is, in my opinion, a must-read for any prospective law student, current law student, or lawyer. While it could be read as a self-help for addicts in some sense, the book also acts as a vivid memoir of Cuban's noteworthy life experiences. Each of these stories are very detailed and written in a personal way that makes the reader feel like he or she was there.Cuban writes in sharp, quick and witty manner that quickens the book's pace. He has a way of delivering powerful, short sentences that make you think and perfectly capture the topic of the relevant paragraph or story."The Addicted Lawyer" is a fantastic read and you are doing yourself a disservice by not reading it. Even if you are not part of the legal field, Cuban provides stories to which everyone can relate.

A Gripping Story Worth Reading
Brian Cuban's story is a gripping one. I've known him for several years, but reading Brian's book shed new light on who he is as a person. He has laid himself bare in his book, The Addicted Lawyer, so that others might benefit from reading his story. He is courageous, genuine, sincere, funny, and humble. All of these traits seemed to be just below the surface as Brian struggled with his addictions. It took going through Hell to have them rise to the surface--and he is better for it as are the rest of us.Everyone has a cross to bear in life--some crosses are heavier than others, and some people carry their crosses with less of a struggle. Brian Cuban is openly sharing his story and we would all benefit from learning the lessons in this book. Maybe you aren't dealing with any of the issues mentioned in Brian's book, but there is probably someone in your life--a family member, friend, or co-worker who is dealing with addiction or depression. Use this book as a template for understanding someone else's burden and how you can help them become the person they want to be in life.Thank you Brian for writing such a powerful and motivating book. You give hope to the hopeless.

Beyond the Courtroom - Navigating the Depths of Addiction in 'The Addicted Lawyer' by Brian Cuban
Brian Cuban's "The Addicted Lawyer" isn't just a raw, and heartbreaking exploration of addiction and mental health within the legal realm. It became a source of great comfort for me, a reminder that I'm not alone in this painful struggle. The shared experiences detailed in the book struck a chord, making me feel understood in a way that's often difficult to find.In the midst of our shared battles, Brian Cuban's narrative skillfully weaves in a touch of dark humor, highlighting the absurdity of our behaviors as addicts. There's a certain irony and relatability in recognizing those patterns, a recognition that, while very serious, can also bring a sense of shared humanity. As I read, I found moments of nodding in agreement, sometimes even cracking a wry smile at the recognition of familiar antics in myself. It's this delicate balance that sets "The Addicted Lawyer" apart. It's not just a guide through the struggles of addiction. It's a companion that whispers, "You're not alone," and occasionally, even in the darkest moments, finds a way to add a touch of shared light to what can feel a darkened, lonely journey by giving hope to those who suffer the unbearable pain addiction brings to ourselves and to our most beloved ones.
