No. Your own password if the only way to open and reset the key safe box. The combination lock box will be of no use if password forgotten. Please DO remember your own combination. We suggest writing down or taking a pic of the new code each time after your setting.

Q: Can it be removed once fixed to a railing

The mounting holes are inside, so the screws or bolts will be accessible when the unit is opened.

To wall mount the key safe inside with screws is considering its security. Great quality, easy to install

Screws

The key safe is really sturdy and feels like it will stand up to the winter weather. Very easy to change the password, it only took about 10 seconds. The only downside (the reason for 3 stars) was the screws. With a sturdy box I thought the screws would be better. 2 out of the 4 screws had a problem when tightened up, the heads snapped off. Which meant I has to removed the safe and re-position it using my own plugs and screws. If you start with your own good quality screws you won't have this issue. Once up it looks good and solid.
