While this product is easy to install and its easy to customize the length of the strips, it unfortunately fails to prevent pigeons from landing on them and even walking across the spikes. Installation was easy as I lined my balcony railing with the strips and used zip ties to secure them down. Unfortunately, the easy of use with this product is completely negated by the fact that pigeons do not see these spikes as any kind of threat.

We purchased these spikes in an attempt to thwart the of the barn swallows that return each year to build their mud nests in our front and back porches. Sadly, not only do the swallows rest on the spikes, they are able to comfortably build their nests on top of and around them, as well. :-(The product itself is well made and easy to install. Needless to say it was a huge disappointment that they did not work for our intended purpose. These would probably work for larger birds or animals such as cats (as others have indicated). Just know that these are NOT the right solution for birds such as (or the size of) of barn swallows.

The product seemed decent. I was having an issue with robins trying to nest under my gazebo. They kept building a nest on top of a post that holds up the roof. So I installed these spikes. And they built a nest on the spikes. So I removed the nest and piled cayenne pepper onto the spikes. And they built a nest on top of the cayenne pepper covered spikes. FINALLY, I rolled up newspaper into a bowling ball sized ball and covered it with aluminum foil and jammed that on top of the post (and cayenne and spikes. THAT'S what kept them from making a nest. Finally!

Okay - I used window caulking to adhere the strips to my window sills. I literally watch a squirrel pull it off the sill! I kid you not!! I’d use something stronger to adhere these strips. They are sharp and bend-breaking them works okay but it was difficult to cut. It doesn’t keep the birds off because they landed nicely on the spikes. However, the squirrels ripped them up from the ends bc there wasn’t enough space in between the spikes for them to balance on. This works for keeping critters off or out but birds just don’t care and will safely land on the spikes.

These are really well constructed...made of hard plastic and quite sharp. However my issue was with a dove that camps out above my front door....it simply sits on the spikes! Maybe they are not quite long enough. No good for this bird but I'm sure it would be effective for animals or people. BTW, I've used a super-bright flashlight last night and that totally confused the bird. Seems to be working as the bird did not come back. I'm hopeful after a few encounters with my spotlight it will find another nest sight!!

We bought these to install on the headboard above our bed to keep our 4 cats from using it to jump up into the window and then back down onto our faces and heads all night long. Since we've put these on, all 4 have jumped up, quickly learned their lesson, and do not try to get up there anymore. Such a clever and inexpensive way to to solve this problem and I only wish we would have thought of it sooner!

I have 4 cats that are indoor cats. I used these spikes to line my fence, it has almost stopped all other cats from jumping my fence to get into my backyard. My cats are confident that the yard is safe for them only. I have 1 cat who dug under the fence to get out, I just blocked it with a rock. But these are excellent for keeping cats off the fence including my cats. Just make sure the areas they jump onto (like electrical boxes) have a deterrent on them. This product has stopped abscesses from cat fights or my cats getting hit by a car. Friends told me it would never work...Ha it does work!!!

In place for a few weeks...so far, so good! No rain leaks during solid week of downpours. The solid roof is actually 2 layers sandwiched together. The roof allows light to filter through, so it is not dark. Negative? Does not include privacy curtains, just screens. For the price, should have both. In my opinion worth the price to have it assembled. Took 2 guys 3 hours, and they do this all day long during the season. You need to buy your own anchors, which I recommend, even though this is a very sturdy, heavy gazebo
