UPDATED - It is working again.
Update: I went on their website today, hoping they fixed their database, THEY DID. I love this scanner. I can scan anything books, movies (VHS and DVD), and music without any issues. I updated my software and it is now working. I am very happy.I purchased this product in 2020. It worked beautifully. However, as of February 2021, it stopped working. I reached out to IntelliScanner and they know the database has issues. This was one of their email comments:From IntelliScanner: "I'm sorry there's trouble with Media software filling up items information. I'll be happy to help with this.Alas, there's currently an issue when filling up information from the online database. We'll get this fixed up shortly and we'll get back to you once it's done. Again, thanks for your patience and understanding."I still have not received a warm fuzzy that it will be working again.

Works Just Fine
Since I received this unit (less than 24 hr ago) I've scanned nearly 100 DVDs, as well as numerous audio CDs and books. Except for a few DVDs whose numbers could not be identified (even after I manually entered them), everything worked great. Most scans were nearly instantaneous and I was able to accumulate a list of numbers very quickly. Then, when directed, the software goes online to search out various databases to generate the report. The database search can take several minutes, so be patient.Your data can be sorted alphabetically by clicking the headings within the software associated with the scanner and I had no problem exporting the information to Excel. There is very little supporting documentation, but it really is not needed. I had the system up and scanning in 5-10 minutes, after watching a brief online video on the company's website. I purchased the classic scanner (with cord) but can see the advantages of the mini, cordless version, since you don't have to be tethered to a computer.Bottom line: it works fine and i'm happy with it.

Best Movie Library Solution I Can Find, But Still Not Perfect
After trying lots of free online spreadsheets and programs to try to organize my DVDs and BluRays and finding they all sucked, I broke down and spent $99 on this. It's good, worth the money, but it's not perfect. The instructions were a bit sketchy, but I got them figured out after about 5 minutes--they could be better written and clearer, they are not idiot-proof. When I scan the barcode on a DVD or BluRay, the program autofills a lot of stuff, but not as much as I'd like--things like year of theatrical release, run time, etc. Usually it find sthe cast and director, but a couple of times it has left those fields blank. Also, the 'media' choices (for the type of media the movie is on) include DVD, BluRay, Laser Disc, etc., but do not include 4k UHD BluRays-- so it's time for the manufacturer to update the program. You can do custom fields and fill them in yourself, and it only takes a few seconds each, but I've got something like 700 movies on disc so a few seconds each adds up.A few nits: one of my movies scanned as a book, and there's no way I can find to tell the program to change the media type from a book to a movie. Happily, when the barcode doesn't work (which is pretty rare--it usually brings back what I'm looking for), you can search based on the work's title and so far that's found what the scanned code has not. And if that doesn't work, there's a further option to do a complete manual input for a movie (or book, etc.) Also, the code key (requried to download/run the program) is on a small card that could easily get lost--I photographed it with my phone, as I often lose small cards but rarely lose my phone.Another good feature: it exports to Excel (although it doesn't seem to export the artwork, just the text fields)! So overall: good product, worth the money, it's the best solution I've found so far, but it could use some minor improvements.

Faulty Software, Lack of Customer Support Options
I placed my order on 8/20 via Amazon. I put in the activation key the first time I used the software. After using it successfully several times and inventorying all of my media, I am now being prompted to put in a new activation key.I cannot access my media library and it appears that the 12 hours I spent inventorying thousands of classroom books has been wasted, as the app files are empty. The number that appears on the "Help" pop up window does not work. After contacting Amazon, I was told to contact the company directly, but there is no phone number or chat feature. I sent them an email and am awaiting a response. I will update this review if/when I hear from customer support.I am very disappointed that I spent such a significant amount of time inventorying thousands of items, only to not be able to access those and not have a contact number to speak to anyone.

Why didn't I think of this before?
I am so glad that I learned about this scanner. For the first time I know exactly what books I have in my classroom library and will be able to track student check-outs. The scanner worked perfectly the first time I used it and continues to do so. The only problems that I have are not the fault of the scanner: #1 Many of my books are older and seem to have the exact same ISBN number or at least they scan the same and #2 I have many books (mostly Scholastic) that have no barcode at all. Because of these two problems, I had to buy more of the barcodes and they are expensive ($24 for 100; $48 for 250). I have spent almost as much on barcodes as on the scanner itself. Of course, if I had realized that so many of my books would NEED new barcodes, I could have just bought a larger pack to begin with and saved some money. So, that being said, teachers, this is a must have for the classroom but buy no less than the pack of 250 barcode labels.

Very disappointed!
Not a single book was recognized by this scanner. Contact with the seller indicates that they are updating their database. Would be awesome if it actually worked.
