Made removing the strut from spindle a breeze on my MKV 08 VW Rabbit. I am sure it helped that I sprayed penetrating oil a few times over a couple days but with this tool locked in the strut practically fell out within a few movements.Its simple but served its purpose/function well. It held up well through the job as it has to be locked in and moved a few times when removing / reinstalling the strut.

This little thing did the trick. It enabled me to spread the strut mounts on my daughter's Jetta and make it very easy to pull the struts out. You have to put in from the top down and twist in different parts for this to work. I saw the reviews where it broke on others, but remember to start at the top, insert, twist and then work your way down the shaft and it should work just fine

This pinch bolt spreader is perfect. I figured I could do it without a special tool but since I wasn’t in a hurry to remove the strut on my vw Jetta tdi I decided to go ahead and order it. While I was waiting for the tool to come in I tried spreading the pinch bolt with a few random tools around the garage. Gave up after a few tries and waited for the tool to come in. Got the strut out in under a minute with the pinch bolt spreader. Tool works slick!!

Wasn't thick enough to spread the struts on my 2020 Toyota/BMW Supra, but still got it to work by sticking a quarter in the slot to make it more snug. Plus side, the quarter takes the abuse and not the metal on the strut.

I would give this sucker 10 stars if I could. I was in a jam this weekend trying to do a shock job because I didn't know I needed this tool for a Ford Focus (this model uses pinch-bolt on the strut. ) Ordered it Sat. and got it early Sun. afternoon with enough time to do the job and be ready to roll Mon. morning. Hard to believe that spreading it couple of millimeters makes such a difference!!

You basically have to have one of these or an equivalent to change a strut on VW. Without it, just a total pain in the you know what! Might be some other manufacturers that use the same set up? For the price, can't beat, it will save you many gray hairs.

Perfect for suspension work on my MK7 GTI. Easy to use. Needs a half inch socket wrench or adapter. Just insert and turn with wrench until seated crosswise and the tool has done its job. No sign of wear after working on both sides of my suspension. Worth the small price to have the right tool.

I needed a strut spreader for same day delivery. This part did the job perfectly.
