Better as a fuel polishing transfer pump

It has a water sensor. I connected a alarm to it

Q: Is there a vacuum switch so the pump could switch off automatically when the filter is clogged?

No vacuum switch. If your fuel is that bad I recommend having a team polish the tank. Or put a hr meter on it to replace every so many hours

Q: Does this unit take suction from the tank and return it to the tank or is it in a parallel circuit to the engine

This polisher basically filters the diesel fuel in the tank in a loop. It takes the fuel out of the tank through the filter and returns it back into the tank.
