I bought a new illy pod machine and was thoroughly frustrated that the company didnt send me recycling labels, nor would they respond to my request for one. I'm not spending $15 to recycle my pods (as they sell a kit on their site). Also, I don't want to contribute to the waste, so I got this. At first, I was frustrated that only so much fits inside. Not this company's fault. Illy designed the machine for a tiny pod. You can't get more than a small shot of espresso out of that size. I couldn't fit a full 5g of espresso in mine. But... When I compared a shot made with illy grounds in this pod to the plastic illy pods, they were pretty identical with a medium forced tamp. So, the machine itself is a little flawed. I can't get a decent size americano nor can I pull a good Lungo shot from my machine.Remedy! I tried to sell my machine when this all irritated me, then I moved to a new state and resurrected the machine. With 2 of these pods, I could get a decent amount of espresso for a 6-8 oz americano , or a double shot cappuccino!going minimalist? think again... These get hot as hell, so if you regularly use 2 shots or a long shot, get two of these pods. Let them cool and clean later.One star taken off because it can take patience to screw the lid on. If you spill some grounds in the threads, it's like threading a needle to get the lid on. Not much you can do about it. Not the company's fault. Just a little hard to use in that matter compared to the typical reusable flip top k-cup.I'm very grateful for this product! I'd recommend to anyone looking to use for your illy machine. Better for the planet, and you can choose a coffee made from suitable plantations that give back to farmers. :)

I purchased this really nice Francis Francis X7. One espresso machine. It was used but the prior owner kept it in great condition the only thing missing was the Capsule, I didn’t realize it uses coffee capsules. So I started my investigation and found the coffee capsules all have to be recycled and I really wanted to use my own coffee and coffee beans so I went online and found this wonderful stainless steel espresso capsule/pod. It came with a coffee measure a brush to clean it out with and a tapper. As soon as it came in I couldn’t wait to try out my new machine. I was very impressed with how sturdy the stainless steel capsule was, very durable and it comes with two extra washers to change out the old one once it gets too worn and starts leaking. The tapper has some good weight behind it and looks just as nice. My 1st cup of espresso was delicious and espressed out very creamy. I would recommend this to all that utilize the Francis Francis X7.1 or any other pod/capsule utilization espresso machine.

Finally, a way to use other coffees with my Illy Francis Francis capsule machine. And to save a little bit of the environment as well, by not having to throw away single use plastic capsules ever time you use the machines. What sold me on this particular model is that is comes with a tamper as well as a scoop. Although it takes a bit of time to fill the steel capsule, it is worth it for me.For it to work well you should use extremely finely ground coffee and tamper down every scoop you add. Fill it almost all the way to the top for best flavor results. You need to close and tighten the capsule very well so that the water does not come out of the closing seam.Unfortunately, i've already lost one of the silicone o rings, which are fundamental for this to work properly. Luckily the unit comes with 2 spares. Take care of them because they are vital for the good working order of the capsule.

There are several of these after-market refillable capsules for Illy Iperespresso machines available, and I have tried a few of them. (These should really be something that Illy ships with the device instead of creating a lot of plastic waste with their OEM capsules, bit I digress.) This model is ok, but not great. It certainly works as described but is slightly smaller than the socket it fits into on the machine’s pull handle, which leaves a gap when hot water is flowing through to the cup. As a result, it leaks, and you get overflow water in your coffee or expresso that waters it down. Can post a video if that would be helpful. The best one I have tested so far has a molded rubber lid (orange color). I would post a link here, but it’s not on Amazon and usually those get removed when included in product reviews. Google is your friend.

When I first bought this I had a blade grinder and I was getting crappy shots (might be why other people are disappointed). I switched to a burr grinder and got way better shots. It's just the truth that if your grind is bad your shot will be bad too. It's gotta be a consistent grind and its gotta be packed tight.If your looking to use your own espresso this is a good way to go but that's about all it's good for. If you're looking to save money on pods, I will say, Illy pods are just as cheap on amazon as a bag of decent espresso in your local grocer, and they're they're cleaner and easier too. If your looking to be eco friendly and not use disposable plastics, this is a good deal but just know that you go through more espresso this way than you do with pods despite there being no disposable plastic. In that way, this isn't as eco-friendly as it may seem. But then again, espresso just doesn't seem to be that efficient from an environmental standpoint anyways.

I am using this reusable pod for a few months now, and I am 100% satisfied!Crema is perfect and no guilty for using one-time-use non-recyclable coffee pods.Highly recommend buying this reusable pod!I had a problem with the product but the seller was kind and helpful in solving the issue.TIP: Tip: Fill the top of the pod with ground coffee and press it VERY LIGHTLY with a tamper!
