Perfect update for the W1070
This review is for the W2700, amazons current store page for this does not display model numbers very well.I purchased this projector as a 4K HDR upgrade with the same throw ratio as the Benq w1070.And what an upgrade it is. The picture is brighter, the colours are stunning with normal HD content, and completely blow anything I have seen our the water watching Planet Earth 2 in 4k HDR mode. The out of the box colour calibration worked well but I made some minor tweaks from some advice online.Wide colour gamut took some getting used to but has produced super accurate and vibrant colours. When looking at HDR content I turn off all cinema master settings for a more natural and detailed picture.Only downsides are that it is a bit loud (compared to W1070) in HDR mode with the lamp settings on normal, and there is a delay when switching source or changing HDR mode (with a loud clunk when WCG mode is enabled), the SDPIF out port only supports 2.1, and some minor but easily fixable bugs with half the screen colours being bad or the source displaying a blank screen, and during the first few power cycles it would forget the projector position is on the ceiling. At first I regretted paying so much for what at first seemed like a minor upgrade, but after pushing the projector to its limits and being blown away by the amazing colours and detail I couldn't recommend it enough.

An excellent 4k projector
For the price, the colour accuracy and contrast on this projector are superb. Black levels are much better than its rivals due to the dynamic iris and the colour accuracy out the box is brilliant. Delighted with my purchase and is an ideal replacement for a Benq w1070 as it has a similar throw/zoom ratio. Sharpness across the image is great and there's a definite step up from 1080p.My only complaint with this projector is the fan noise. It does get quite loud in normal mode but I guess this is due to it's small chassis. Depending where you place the unit it may or may not bother you.All in all an excellent projector and I don't think you'll find anything better in the sub £2k range.

A review for the real W2700 (with second thoughts)
An important first point - most of the reviews supposedly for this projector have to be for another model. In response to my query I received this reply. "Thank you for contacting BenQ and Thank you for your question.Yes, you are right, the model W2700 is a new model released this year."For me, the best features of the W2700 and the ones that persuaded me to buy it: the high quality of the colour rendering, automatic keystone correction and automatic focus adjustment when the zoom is changed. The projector comes with a printout of the factory calibration so that buyers can be sure that it conforms to the claimed 100% of the HDTV standard (Rec. 709).One point to be aware of is that this has a relatively short throw so it may need to be moved closer to the screen when replacing an existing projector. Another factor to be aware of is that the noise level is higher than some machines - there is a silence mode that reduces the noise, but this restsricts the resolution to HD rather than 4K and does not allow any choice of PIcture Mode.To end on a positive note one feature of the W2700 that I haven't seen elsewhere is the ability to update the firmware via a USB stick. This has already improved my machine by givng more control over the Dynamic Iris (it now has three levels as well as off, instead of simply on and off.The documentation does not say which website has the updated firmware - this is benq.eu, under Support. Here you will find a YouTube video showing the process as well as the update itself. One important word of warning - the video doesn't make it clear that the screen goes blank for some time while the update is in progess. It's probably better to go away and do something else rather than watch the screen. With any luck, by the time you return, the process will be over. This review was written shortly after purchasing the W 2700 and represents my views at the time. Unfortunately further experience has revealed problems which have forced me to downgrade my rating from five to four stars. All or these have a workaround, and don't always occur..The first is the split screen problem . After switching on, the screen appears to be divided into two halves, each with a slightly different colour rendering. The work round is to select Picture Mode in the Picture menu, then the mode that the machine should be set to (in my case D Cinema). The next is the Black Band problem. For some reason this only occurs when streaming. If the projector is switched on before the streaming stick there is a black band in the right half of the screen at the bottom. The work round here is to ensure the streaming stick is switched on, and the appropriate input channel selected, before starting up the projector. The final problem is that, when the projector starts up, the screen remains blank. This can be cured my unplugging the cable from the current HDMI socket, and plugging it into the other one.

Great value for money
I haven't had any of the noise issues that others have reported, I've had no problems at all. It was really easy to set up; the picture looks great out of the box. It's watchable with some daylight, as long as it's not too bright. The built in speakers are surprisingly good.

Impressive 4K HDR Projector at this price
For the price this projector offers an amazing 4K HDR picture. It's bright, the colours really pop and the detail is astonishing. HDR 10 works flawlessly. The fan is a little loud but bearable. The software is good and has improved with 2 firmware updates so far in 2019.Highly Recommended

Excitement. Disappointment.
Gutted. The last piece of the puzzle for the home cinema setup. Mounted easily and switched on straight out of the box. White vertical lines appeared on 50% of the screen and even the BenQ logo was fuzzy. Initially thought this might be some sort of setup/calibration piece so gave it the benefit of the doubt for a few minutes, hoping for the best.. Plugged in a HDMI source and as you can see from the pictures, it is completely broken. A quick Google would suggest I'm not the first. On closer inspection I noticed a scuff mark on the chassis which makes me nervous that this was a return of some sort. Not happy but fingers crossed for a quick and smooth refund process. Debating options as to whether purchase again or look for an alternative...
