An amazing compendium of Coleridge works
Every thing a fan of Coleridge could want in one book. Great value for all the work that went into this book

Kudos to Oxford World's Classics for putting this collection together.
Do yourself a favor and buy this work. It contains the poetry and writings of a true genius of literary criticism and a man whose literary philosophy is one that shaped a generation. A man on the level of Dr. Johnson who is a must read for any student of 19th century literary thought.I like that it is in one volume and that OWC included an index of first lines as well as titles to help the readers find the poem needed.

great collection, weak binding
this is an excellent collection of coleridge--i used it for my MA thesis and it had all the major works that i needed. i was extremely disappointed in the binding, however. it is not the usual OWC binding, which is one of my favorites, but a cheaper, less resiliant one. for a collection of this size, this is somewhat problematic.

the literary snap, crackle, and pop first published long ago under strange urges
Powerball provides modern piffle people with the urge to take part in some activity that could matter in a big way to themselves, all their friends, and millions of people they might meet in their lifetime, but Coleridge mentioned the last lottery in England on page 536 of The Major Works after setting the stage for twigs and branches. A note on page 712 reveals lotteries were abolished in England in 1826, with the last being on 18 October 1826. Coleridge wanted study of the Tree of Knowledge. He was not praising a hack lawyer, or a hack parson as, my quote:in short, a sapless stick, for that is the right namefor a Branch, in which thejuices elaborated by thecommon trunk do not circulate . . .A liberal Education supplying "the germ of free-agency" gives a Gentleman "who knows himself and walks in the light of his own consciousness." (p. 537).Coleridge was aware of parts of the Bible that I did not hear about going to church. At the age of 22, on Christmas Eve, 1794, his poem Religious Musings contains comments on a war against France, where a revolution had removed the king, queen, and made Coleridge write lines 124-126:A sea of blood bestrewed with wrecks, where madEmbattling interests on each other rushWith unhelmed rage!

Good collection of Coleridge's works
S.T. Coleridge is an interesting poetic figure. An opium addict who imaged an imaginary country called 'Xanadu', based on an Asian legend about one of the descendants of Genghis Khan, Coleridge's visions are very scattered and lacking in unity. His poems, while some soar to great heights, are often confusing or pedestrian, and in this regard he is a lesser poet than Blake or Milton.Despite this and his constant dabblings in various religions and his unsystematic attempts to grasp a deep unity in the universe and in all knowledge in the realm of the spirit, along with some beautiful poems like the Ancient Mariner and some good essays and prose works (such as the Biographia) make Coleridge an essential part of any canon of English literature. He is a genius, even if not an outstanding one, and worth reading at least once. The Oxford Collections are generally of very high standard and worth purchasing for every canonical author.

Damaged
I can't believe the staff threw this in the envelope thinking it wouldn't matter. I'm truly disappointed. Samuel Taylor Coleridge is my ancestor and I got this as a Christmas present for a new member of the family. I expect a full refund or a replacement that is in perfect condition with expedited shipping. Please tell me how we can get the resolution started.

She Walks in Beauty
Might still be wandering Abora's sister-flowered slopes, lonely within its lenticulars, but for this comprehensive pocket guide to Pushkin me through.

Straight forward transaction . Book was ordered for my daughters A level studies. She thinks the book itself is fine- but the play is not the easiest to comprehend
