Georgia's Bones (Incredible Lives for Young Readers (ILYR))

I ordered this book for use with a Pre School class as we focused on the artist Georgia O'Keefe. The illustrations were beautiful and the book was satisfactory for the age I was using it with.

Illustrations could have been better. To have someone illustrate a book about her you would expect better art work. The cover is the best thing about this book

I was so disapointed in this book because it lacked any of Georgia's paintings. I returned it because of the lack of quality. I'm so impressed with The Smart About Art series and will stick to those from now on.

GEORGIA'S BONES is a lovely picture book biography that captures O'Keefe's unique way of looking at the world as reflected in her iconic art. Bryant's language is gorgeous, such as when she describes the bones O'Keefe collected and painted: "They gleamed with a white light, pure and bright/like the sliver of moon/that crept over the mountains at night/and hung there, a perfect curve, like a rib/over the sleeping desert." Read this book to a child, share some of O'Keefe's work with them, and then listen to what the child has to say. You'll probably learn something about new about the child as well as something new about art!

Nice book for elementary art children. It tells of her interest in the Southwest. Nice illustrations.
