I highly recommend it.
Nick Redfern writes where many fear to tread. WOMEN IN BLACK: The Creepy Companions of the Mysterious M.I.B. takes us deeper and deeper down his rabbit hole. These are not glimpses of meandering nocturnal lights or scary noises in buildings long abandoned. The implications of genuine face-to-face encounters are even more terrifying than the events themselves. The premise is simple. Strange "men" and "women," some more visibly nonhuman than others, have not only appeared to folks witnessing or researching the paranormal, they have materialized to follow an unknowable agenda. These creatures have a long and twisted history. They might be from "distant" realms that we can never understand or perhaps are closer to us than the hairs on the back of our neck.Take the case of Denise Stoner. All she wanted to do was take her mother to J. C. Penny's on Christmas Eve to pick up a couple of last minute stocking stuffers. They were in line at the cashier when the glass doors opened and two very tall, very thin women entered the store, pushing an umbrella-style stroller. All Mom could say was, "What is wrong with that baby?" That did not matter. In a few moments, weird women and babe were "gone like they had never been there."Maybe Denise and Mom had overactive imaginations and a case of holiday jitters. In Denise's own words, "When we exited the mall, my Mom had already stepped off the curb to locate my car. I was stopped by three men who were leaning on the brick wall by the door. Wearing black suits, black hats, white shirts, sunglasses. Short in stature... One of them said, 'you will not discuss what happened inside that store, do not talk about it to anyone; do you understand?' I did not answer, stepped off the curb as I felt I was in danger, and called after Mom. Just after I stepped off the curb, I turned back to discover these men were gone and there was nowhere for them to go..."Denise felt that "we had been shown something in the store that wasn't normal and we were talking about it as we left to see if we were imagining things when I met these men."How convenient. It makes me wonder about what is happenstance and what is staged.Did you know that there are reports of these WIB hissing when agitated? This book is not important for the questions that it answers. It is important for the answers that it questions.Redfern writes, "When paranormal activity occurs, when UFOs intrude upon the lives of petrified people, and when researchers of all things paranormal get too close to the truth for their own good, the WIB are ready to strike. They dwell within darkness, they surface when the landscape is black and shadowy, and they spread terror and negativity wherever they walk. Or, on occasion, silently glide. They are the Women in Black. Fear them. Keep away from them. And never, ever, let them in."WOMEN IN BLACK: The Creepy Companions of the Mysterious M.I.B. belongs on your bookshelf or in your digital library. I highly recommend it.As a final note and my salute to synchronicity, I must confess that the first cinematic experience that had any profound effect on my young mind occurred around the time that I was in the first grade. It was a black-and-white 1954 British science-fiction film shown on American television. It was entitled "Devil Girl from Mars." In 2001, while watching "History's Mysteries: The True Story of the Philadelphia Experiment," an episode that displayed my research "talents," I was surprised to see that the documentary company used the flying saucer from that same obscure sci-fi flick to illustrate the UFO angle. Redfern devotes several paragraphs to Nyah, my "Devil Girl from Mars."

They Dwell Within The Darkness
Reading this book was certainly a new twist on the ‘everybody’s heard about the men in black’ scenario. It certainly put a new perspective on paranormal encounters I was naïve about. Some of the women described in this are far creepier and probably more deadly than their male counterparts. We see time and time again the MIB & WIB have the ability to control and manipulate our minds and our common sense factors to incredible degrees. Well, for now. Humanity is evolving at an accelerated pace. Nick Redfern’s books are interesting in a way that’s not about just the title of the book. He includes ‘little snippets’ here and there that can send the proverbial ‘lightning bolt’ to the astute reader. Read this together with the Men In Black. If you project or permit hostility, then that is what you will receive. How entities behave depends largely on the person with whom they are interacting. Cry out in fear, and they will give you good reason to fear them. The phenomenon conforms to your belief structure. You have the strength to resist negative entities- John Keel and Brad Steiger

You need this book...
I've just finished Nick Redfern's latest book, Women In Black. Another fantastic and well written book by a brilliant Author, who has a definitive grasp on this very intriguing and mysterious aspect of the paranormal field. What lies at the heart of the strange enigma known as the People in Black-Men In Black, Women In Black and even Black Eyed Children? Back through out history and into our modern times, this weird riddle continues. I have a personal interest in this subject after my own brush with these denizens of the unknown. So if you love a good mystery as I do, especially a real life mystery that might reach out and touch you one day, then you definitely owe it to yourself to get this book. In "Women In Black", one of the strangest of mysteries, is waiting for you...Dennis W. Carroll denniswcarroll.com ©

Unfortunately Mr. Redfern has giving us some sort of a mix of folklore and unexplained phenomena that permeates the globe. I have heard this same type of stories from my grand parents
From: Witches to ladies that appear in the middle of the night and scream out loud for no apparent reason. I was even told of a story of my grand grand mother, she claimed they caught and burned alive one of those witches. The point is this; I don't think this has anything to do with the creepy companions of the Men in Black he claims they are.Should have been called, "Tales and Stories of Creepy Ghosts"

Interesting Read
I love when new topics or new viewpoints of topics are covered. It's refreshing and keeps our community on its toes. The only thing I didn't really care for was some the accounts were stretching it a little bit to be put into the WIB category. Some of these stories are most definitely hair raising and will have you checking over your shoulder and the endless connections are quite interesting. Would have also liked to have seen even older accounts be included as the WIB have been around for a very long time. Another great one from Nick, definitely worth the read.

Ladies in Black
Nick Redfern is a renown author who has written many books about cryptids, UFOs and a number of unusual phenomena. This particular book concerns the WIB, or Women in Black, an often overlooked addition to the Men in Black phenomenon. Redfern has done extensive research on the subject and presents a number of encounters, both past and present. Also included are used of ghostly sightings around the turn of the century. Information is presented in a straightforward way, so that the reader can come to their own conclusions about the validity of the subject matter. The stories told within are frightening. A very enjoyable read about a little known subject matter.

Great book
That is one of the best work from Nick Redfern, that is all too quick in believe in information from "insiders" who only deceive him and everybody else, writing silly books like the on he wrote about Roswell. It is not the case on this one, most of the cases are from reputable sources or taken from himself.Great read.

Hmm
Redfern has decided that women in black are a phenomenon that encompasses not just strange UFO-related visitors, but every strange encounter with any female being that happens to be rather spooky and dressed in black. He tries to lump them all under the same umbrella , basically concluding that they are all connected simply because of their penchant for dark clothing and their eerie behaviour.A better title for the book would have been something like, "Encounters with Paranormal Females".

Interesting, but hard going
I found the subject fascinating and creepy. Lots of interesting references to sightings throughout the years, but...hard reading and had to force myself to finish it due to being poorly written. The last three quarters was full of old newspaper findings and old interviews. It's a factual book, but is written in a fiction style with way too much added adjectives for scare/ dramatisation of the book. Loved the subject though.

Scary Good
The title says it - creepy. Redfern renders unsettling tales of encounters with the women in black. He covers these encounters in the scenarios that instigate these creepy visitors with ghostly tales, threats to curious investigators into UFOs and King Arthur.
