The size we bought runs on the longer size for age 11, which is ok because my son is on the shorter size for his age and can grow into them. We bought these for BSA use. The material is thinner, which works well for warmer events in scouts. The belt is a one size fits all, which is ok (son is on the skinnier side as well), but you'll end up with a lot of length leftover as the size of the belt is far to long for the size of the waist on the pants. I would recommend going a size down if you notice your child to be on the shorter size of his age group though. The zip off legs to convert to shorts is a wonderful feature.

These are a great idea if cool in the morning and then much warmer later in the day, long to shorts in seconds. The material is noisy, so people can hear you coming when you walk also this was for an 8 year old, he’s spot on for his height and weight for his age and these fit him in the leg but big in the waist. It does come with a belt that helps.

Wore them 1 time, the zipper for the detachable pants came off the pant leg and it’s no longer usable as pants. Would not buy this item again and disappointed in the quality.
