Fabriano Studio Hot Press Watercolor Pad, 8 x 10, White

I love this hot press watercolor paper. It’s the perfect quality for my pencil drawings and the perfect size for when I do custom drawings for clients. It was sold out at my local art stores so I was happy to find it here. I see some reviews that say it’s terrible watercolor paper but in fact, it’s doing exactly what it’s designed to do. This is hot press and not cold press paper. Hot press watercolor paper is not made for wet on wet or watercolor washes. You need cold press paper with more tooth and absorbency for that. If you’re painting on this paper, it’s best for wet on dry technique only. That’s what hot press paper is designed to do. I on the other hand, use it for drawing. It’s perfect for graphite and colored pencil. Very happy to find it in stock here.

The media could not be loaded. as seen in the video, I tried watercolor clouds in order to work wet on wet wet on dry dry on dry plus rework dry areas the paper performed wonderfully. I am definitely a fan of this paper now. since I only did watercolor on hot press once before, I couldn’t say how it compares to average hot press, but it was definitely better than whatever the hot press was that I was using.

I love this paper!! I use it for multimedia. It’s nice and smooth but the surface holds up very well to acrylic, water color, pen, and colloage. I do a lot of layering in my art and this holds up beautifully with no surface scuffing/pilling and minimum warping. Simply the best I’ve used. Highly recommend for multimedia artists.

I've used this paper for several years and love it's weight and coloring. I know it's not technically a professional grade watercolor, but I love the ability I have to lift days and weeks old color off the paper without problems or pilling the paper. Could not recommend this paper more to someone looking for a hot press (smooth) paper that has minimal buckling.This would be a five star review except the package showed up damaged as the pictures show. The bag it was shipped in (not the most protective to begin with and I'm very surprised that my corners aren't damaged from that alone) showed no signs of the damage that happened to the front of the larger of the two pads I ordered. So I'm left to assume it looked like that when it was packaged which is a little disappointing. The only page that I won't be able to use is the top one and I decided it was worth the hassle of returning to potentially get a more damaged pad.

Such a great quality paper, perfect for watercolor. Wish the price wasn’t so high but it’s worth it for the quality you get.
