This is the bottom portion of the fan only. You'll need to remove the fan and the heatsink assembly (super easy but be mindful of the thermal paste compound). Remove the three black (small black Phillips head) screws, gently peel back (from the fan's direction) 1/4" black tape, replace the fan and follow the steps in reverse. Also, when two halves are assembled gently press then together - this will also align the three small screw holes.The fan itself is of improved design. Once replaced take a look at the Cool Sense icon in the system tray and enable it (if disabled). Hope this helps.

My wife’s laptop started making noise off and on. Researched and found that it had an SSD drive, so suspected the fan as being the problem. If nothing else, it was a lot cheaper to try and replace the fan before replacing the hard drive. Everything worked just right. Replaced the fan - it fit perfectly and no more noise!!
