I am a long time vegetarian , getting good nutrition is important, and not always easy, so I am careful to eat high potency foods. Nutritional Yeast is one of the ways I do this. This Yeast, by Lewis Labs is the best tasting. As a vegetarian who eats dairy but no eggs, fish, fowl, or meat , and I don't like cereals , breakfast is a tough meal. I add two tablespoons of the Lewis Lab Yeast to a pint of low fat vanilla yogurt , it is delicious to eat, and very satisfying. I feel solid, and without hunger for hours afterwards. This is a nice powder type product. I tasted it out of the jar, and the taste is also very nice. It doesn't taste like cheese, and it did not give the broccoli i sprinkled it on a cheese-sauce taste either, even tho many people say nutritional yeast does. Either my personal tastebuds are different, or this brand doesn't do that. I've only used it once, but I will be putting it on a lot of things. The taste has a great flavor enhancing quality, like a yummy seasoning that has a huge nutritional punch. The reason this is 4 star and not 5 is the jar. It is too fat around to grip well to unscrew the lid! I'm a woman of average size, and it is too big for my hands. Unless you've got a man or large woman around to open it, you may have to do what I've done, and that is transfer it to a jar that is taller and smaller around.

I kind of got lost in all the debate about non-fortified vs fortified. However, I landed here in part due to that but also price and positive reviews. It tastes as I expected. I really enjoy it in/on soups and as a popcorn topping. However, this product is very powdery. The previous product I had was flaky and I did like that texture better than this. When I use this up (which will take some time - it’s a big tub!), I will try another and be looking for flaky as my leading factor.
