Downton Abbey: The Official Film Companion Hardcover – Illustrated, September 17, 2019

This is a beautiful book. So glad I found it before the supply ran out. It was packaged very well and arrived in perfect condition. The seller shipped it in a timely manner and, even though it came by "snail mail", it only took a few days to get all the way across the country without being destroyed.

An excellent companion to the movie. It also gives you perspective on the many relationships among the characters in the movie and their history that go back to 1911 from Season 1 to 1925 which is the beginning of Season 6. The book has many informative facts about the characters that with the speed of the multiple scenes and the subplots one might miss including the actors that play them. An excellent resource with beautiful photos.

Beautifully done volume! It was filled with excellent photos and fascinating background articles about making of the movie, each principal character and individual actors. Biographies of the British royals who were featured in the film were a welcome addition. Fascinating reading. Couldn’t put the book down and read it cover to cover in almost one sitting.

I bought two copies of this book, one to keep and one to give to a friend who was as enthralled by the Downton Abbey series as I was. Spoiler alert: don't read the book until you've seen the movie! It's okay to look at the gorgeous pictures, but keep your eyes away from the text unless you like knowing the identity of the murderer at the beginning of a mystery novel. That said, this book is a treasure to be returned to time and again, especially if you already own all of the series on DVD and plan on watching it over and over. When the movie becomes available for purchase, you can just add it to your collection like the cherry on top of an old-fashioned sundae.

This is similar to the companion books for the series. It is full of gorgeous pictures of cast members, both old and new, fabulous costumes meticulously recreated, and stories of the research to get details just right (the medals worn by the king, the tiara worn by the queen, etc.}. I strongly recommend this book. It will keep you entertained and delighted for many hours. Long live Downton Abbey!

Most Downton Abbey fans probably have most, if not all, of the companion books to the TV series (I think there were 5 of them). Full of on set and behind the scenes pictures, facts, history…just a lot of great detail about the series. This book is like that and might even be an improvement on the previous books. It doesn't give away much (I haven't seen the movie but already knew many of the details), you won't spoil mich of anything if you read this before you see the movie.Every Downton Abbey fan needs this book. Even if you aren't a fan it's worth a look…would make a great gift too, would be a great addition to any "Downton".collection.

An essential backup source for watching the television series and the movie!

Very well made (hardcover with slip) and loaded with pages.The pages are thick, glossy, and printed extremely well. Care and thought was definitely put into the production of this book.This is a series of "companion books" for Downton Abbey, and although I haven't seen the others, I feel based on skimming through this one, I feel redundancy might be an issue if you had multiples.None-the-less, I bought this for my 82 yr old grandmother, and she ADORES it!It is not a book for her to read in bed (as she likes to do) however, great for reading at a desk, kitchen table, etc, due to it's decent size and weight (8x10 pages roughly).Buy with confidence. The Canadian Price on the back of the book is $34.95 + tax. I paid $25 + tax here, but if you have to pay upwards of $40 + tax, I think it's still a worthwhile buy, to be honest.

Purchased this copy via Amazons 'new and used' section and its in perfect condition.i was expecting the book to have a dust jacket like my other hard back Downton book, but the photo is directly on the hard back of the book.Highly recomend "new and used". as its such an amazing reduction in price.This book is full of wonderfull insight into the first feature film from this amazing program, with lost of large colour photographs.
