Makes A Great COOLER!
The Koolatron Iceless cooler/warmer works great. A few notes. One, this is not a mini fridge. It's a cooler. If you put warm items in this you will wait a long while for things to get chilled. I put a six pack of cold canned soda in this and it kept them cold all day. Second, you need to read the directions. The plug is reversible. There is a red dot on one side of the power cable end and a blue dot on the opposite side of the power cable end. On the cord attached to the cooler, there is an arrow molded into the plug. So if you want the cooler to cool, the arrow should point to the blue dot. Flip it it you want things to stay warm. I was satisfied with how well this worked as a cooler and it frees me from needing ice as well as having all of that water to get rid of. I haven't tried it in heat mode as I live in Florida! All I need for that is to leave my truck in the sun with the windows up to keep hot food hot!

DO NOT GET- Does not work
This cooler worked for about a month give or take. It began to automatically go on hot- not good when expecting chilled grapes and luncheon meat. The motor is loud and it also stops without one turning off. For the cost expected better- This was put in garage and is still there being used to store things. What a waste of money and I am unable to return this $69.00 mini storage container.

Great!
This cooler worked great on my 4-day trip. I used the DC power in the car for the 7-hour drive and it kept my food and beverages cold. I used the power adapter while in my retreat room and it also kept the food and beverages cold. The strap made carrying the cooler very easy.

Travel Cooler
I chose a smaller model to fit on the floor behind the driver for easy access. The cooler has performed exceptionally well. The bottled water was very cold - just above freezing.

is that the heat exchanger fins are 1) inside the area you'd like to store things
The problem with this unit, in my opinion, is that the heat exchanger fins are1) inside the area you'd like to store things, and2) at the bottom. This thwarts convection. Cold air sinks, warm air rises. With the exchanger at the bottom, stuff on the bottom gets cold and stuff on top not so much. It will work ok if you load it up with beverage cans, because the heat is conducted. But looser or lighter items will tend to get cold at the bottom of the cooler but not so much at the top. I can see why they did this from a space-saving point of view, and I did want a small unit. But from a performance view the larger models have the heat exchanges on top, which is probably a more effective design, allowing convection, more even cooling and better heat removal. We'll probably give one of the 25 quart models a try. Nice concept but the 9 quart model forces some compromises in the design.

Perfect for what its meant to do
I have a 2007 Volvo XC-90 and have been looking for a cooler that was small enough to fit in the corner of the truck yet big enough to cool a few bottles of water. I had looked at the OEM from volvo and after all said and done it would cost well over $400 for the entire solution. I ran across this guy whcih actually looked the same as the Volvo cooler and decided to try it out.PROS:- Very compact and fits nicely in the storage area in the truck- Cools down very well as long as you have another item in the cooler that is cold. It makes the cooler chill down pretty fast and keeps the items chilled.- Perfect for day getaways and returning to the truck to get some nice chilled water.- Easy to use. If you want cold you flip the power cord one way and if you want hot you flip it the other way- Saved a boat load of money for exactly what i needed to do, drink some cold water when i come back to my truck from a a few hours outside or at the beach/park.CONS:- Takes some time to cool the items inside if you dont have chilled already.- I had to purchase the power saver cord which allows me to shut the truck off but still keep the unit running without having to worry about my truck battery being dead when i come back. AWESOME and a must have for this type of thing. WOuld have been nice feature to have built in.- Cant tell when you have the heater on. You have to touch the coil to see if its hot.Overall the only reason i gave it a 4 star was because its missing some nice to have features.

Outstanding cooling operation
I bought this item especially to travel to the south west and keep my eye medicne within the temperature as required. The Koolatron performed flausley. Even in exptreem heat of 3 digit temperatures the temp was stable and within the parameters required. i used it in every hotel and or motel each night by using the AC cord and then converted it to the 12 volt car extension upon leaving for daily trips of 300 -600 miles or more.I highly recommend this item for cooling and maintaining the abient temperature required. I did not have a chance to try the heat side of the Koolatron but if it works as well as the cooling Ican not imagine anything different.I highly recommend the purchasd of this item andthe use for which i had was only a small measure that it could be adapted.

Koolatron P9 Traveller III
This product is really not worth the money. It didn't keep our things very cool during our 12 hour car trip. Also not much room inside.
