I am sold on turrets after trying this one out! Buying more for all exterior locations!
This is my first Hikvision 'Turret' style camera but I have a total of 10 Hikvision cameras currently in service at my home. I read many times that turret was better than dome outdoors and at night. How true! I have this camera and another 8MP camera pointed at my driveway and this one has a picture that is super clear while the other dome camera is all cloudy. A wipe down will fix the issue but it doesn't last long so I will be upgrading that camera with another one of these cameras. The one I got is from "World Region" (WR in SN) so I am able to upgrade the firmware without issues. It was pretty easy to install as I had attic access over the eve where I installed it. The camera is powered by a Unifi switch via POE and it stores data both on the SD and a Hikvision DS-7732 NVR.The only issue I have had to date with it is that the quality occasionally get bumped down. When I look at the settings, after noticing that the quality is super low, I see that the bitrate is down to 32 kbps instead of the 16384 kbps I normally set it at (or whatever the max number is). I do not know what is causing it, but it appears that the issue can be prevented or mitigated by enabling RROI and selecting the entire frame with a setting of at least 3. The quality appears to stay stable and good even though I have found the bitrate downgraded to 32 kbps even after doing so. This issue is happening on other Hikvision cameras too so it may not be specific to this camera. It started when I got this camera but I had also just added the NVR. My bets are on the NVR but I figured I would mention it as the quality of the video is very poor when it self-downgrades. Other than that, I love the video feed it produces!

Does not work In the United States
This camara should not be sold in the United States. Recording and motion alert don't work. All do this is Hikvision when you call support they will not help because this is only for international use.

Big changes from DS-2CD2342WD-I
So after using several DS-2CD2342WD-I I upgraded to the last model the DS-2CD2385G1-I .Pro : The nightvision is better . So much brighter that I need to take measures to deal with the glare and washout in my suburban neighborhood. Overall improvement .Minor Con: the visual quality during the daytime is not quite as sharp particularly with off angle bright like , like the sun.Minor Con : The unit's all black face sticks out quite a bit more then expected when mounted a white exterior . It now much easier to see in contrast to the previous model.Bad: The unit is significantly larger then DS-2CD2342WD-I at the base . As a result mounting boxes like Kneuco J-BOX01HK are not even close to fitting. Finding a replacement has been difficult so I had to surface mount which is not good at all .Terribad : The lock screw which locks down the manual pan/tilt is not longer a standard Phillips but rather a Torx ( appears to be a T-8 or T-9 ) . I can't say exactly because its not in the manual and a T-8 fit one camera while a T-9 fit another . This is a real pain and it makes mounting and aiming need one more tool which is bothersome when up on a ladder or the like . The person responsible for this change should be fired .

Wrong part number. Bought 2, installed.
Tried for weeks to make audio work. FInally Hikvision rep said they sold you the wrong camera, it DOESNT have audio. This cost me hundreds of dollars in labor and hours of Hikvision support. CHANGE IT TO SAY NO AUDIO, because it doesnt. And it cost me massive money because of your false advertising. So a waste of my time and massive lost of money because ad was deceptive.

Audio issue and firmware not upgradeable with Hikvision firmware
If you do not need audio, this camera is probably fine. We have dozens of cameras on our Hikvision NVR and many have audio. Audio is fine with all of them. However, while this camera will play audio through a mobile device with IVMS-4500 app., the audio does not record onto the NVR so playback is silent. The firmware version on the camera does not exist with Hikvision. Hikvision firmware for this model will not load to this camera. As seller says, there is no Hikvision support. Until firmware is revised on this camera by seller, cannot recommend if you need to record audio.
