Excellent nightlight / flashlight / emergency light during power failure
I highly recommend these, it's just like a little flash light that's always charged, can be switched to automatically turn on if and when you loose power, and can also bea nightlight. 3 great functions in one super bright LED light.I purchased 4 of these for my home, one for each floor hallway and one for a bathroomthat doesn't have any windows and gets very dark at night, so the nightlight featurewas great and shines just enough with out being to bright. I've often thought aboutwhat if I was in that bathroom and the power went out...Hmmm might bump into a lot of thingstrying to find my way out and back down the hallway. These are excellent!! Relatively small in size, fairly rugged, feels like good quality,an LED light meaning it will run for hours and hours on a charge and wow they are extremely bright. For me now if I need a flashlight I simply go to the outlet and it's always ready to go.If the power fails during a storm, these automatically turn themselves on.Great, no more bumping into things in the middle of the night or coming home to a completelydark house if the power is out.I've also discovered that even if I'm not at home and their is a power failure, peoplestill think I'm at home...my neighbor across the street saw the light on in my house duringa recent storm that hit the area that took down the power for about 3 or 4 hours, and thoughtI was home .... Nice little security feature there I thought, if there is a light on inside the house, probably means someone's at home...a criminal is probably going to think twice before breaking into ahome that's lit up when the power goes out.I also found a little BONUS on these units (at least the ones I received)A small door with a little screw holding it shut, on the opposite side as the switch. When I removed the screw and used a screw driver to slide the door/pocket out, I founda replaceable battery .. .BIG BONUS.. Now granted the battery is one I've never seen,it's like a large oversized watch battery, but it's replaceable meaning you can purchase itonline for sure if not at your local battery store and you won't be throwing these devicesaway if the battery no longer holds a charge...just replace the battery.Previous devices, from other manufacturers that I've owned have been throw aways due to the unitsbeing sealed shut, no way to open them without completely destroying the units.I've had my units for nearly 3 years and during a recent power outage that lasted 3+ hours these unitswere still going strong and were running at full brightness.

Amazing product and solution. A bit on the high end of pricing however
Very clever and perfect for what I need it for. It is very light compared to similar light output LED flashlights I used to use. And the good thing is, 1. you always know where this one is, it is plugged in and thus is always in the same place 2. it is always 100% charged which you pull it out to use it... no more wondering if the battery has only half its life left. 3. it is light weight and bright enough, smaller than some as well. 4. it fits in your pocket and doesn't weigh the pocket down Good for walks on the beach. It holds its charge when not plugged in for months. VERY impressive flashlight. I have now purchased 5 of these. Price is higher than some, but the features and durability make it well worth it. .

Reasonably price and does the job well.
This is my review of the Energizer Weather Ready Compact Rechargeable Flashlight.I bought and have had these for a few years now and waited to write this review to make sure that I have used it long enough. So far it still ticking and charging nicely. It is designed to be left in an electric socket until you need it, as in a black out. It is nice to know that you can just grab a fully charged flashlight in an emergency. It's suppose to light up while plugged in when there is a blackout but fortunately I have not experienced this.I have also brought these (I have 2) in camping trips and nature walks and performed well in pitch black. It does a sufficient job illuminating the path to walk on ahead and a good twenty feet ahead. Although the advertisement says ultra bright, it is not the brightest but it does the job pretty well. The charge also held up well since I have used it for long periods of time (more than an hour) plenty of times. All in all I recommend this product because it does well what it's designed to do and for the reasonable price.

A good light for when your power goes out
PURPOSE - why but it ?When your power fails, being totally in the dark is not a great feeling. This light will charge when there is AC power, and then turn on when the power fails.Secondarily, you can use as a rechargeable flashlight. Have you tried to use a flashlight only to find the batteries were dead or weak? This light will always be charged and READY when needed. The light output (lumens) is not super bright but provides enough light to be useful in many household cases..And .... Can you set this device to act like a nightlight, except it will ALWAYS be on in this mode, since there is NO ambient light sensor which would turn light on only when room is dark. I would not recommend as a nightlight.PACKAGINGIn October 2013, the packaging included instructions HIDDEN in the small enclosed black square of cardboard found in the back. There was nothing on the packaging that points one to where the instructions can be found. Only one's curiosity would lead a person to investigate the poor product packaging to find instructions. Also this cardboard square and the light itself are attached using wires you need to cut with scissors or wire cutters. Energizer's packaging is apparently designed to thwart shoplifters.UPN 125026UPC code 39800-02346INSTRUCTIONS (version 105-62999 found on bottom of instructions)The package itself (front and back) is strictly marketing. No instructions on use. The instructions are HIDDEN away as mentioned above. Understandable and in multiple languages.THERE IS NO EXPLANATION of the 3 settings on the device. A VERY BAD omission by the manufacturer so here they are:1. ON - if unplugged, acts like flashlight if the batteries have been charged. . If plugged in, YES it charges, and when power fails light will come on.2. OFF - when plugged in, will only charge battery; no light. On power failure, does not turn on light.3. NIGHTLIGHT - if plugged in, charges, and light is on and STAYS on all the time.Instructions show how to REMOVE the battery for recycling. Some reviews below say you can therefore replace the battery, however, a battery cost may be close to the cost of buying a new Energizer Weather Ready LED Flashlight.EXPERIENCEI had the non-LED version of these for years and they worked great, until house was hit by lightning and most devices plugged into outlets without surge protectors took a power surge and stopped working. Recently bought these LED versions.Easily plugs into the wall power outlet and when plugged in, it does not cover the second outlet like some rechargeable lights do.You can plug it into the upper outlet, and light will point towards ceiling. If you plug it into the lower outlet, the light beam will point towards the floor.RECOMMENDATIONBUY if you want power failure lights and secondarily want a flashlight ready for use anytime.1. Unpack it and turn to ON position. It should turn on since device comes from manufacturer partially charged.2. Leave in the ON position and flip out the AC plug from the flashlight.3. Plug it into an AC outlet. Let it charge for 24 hours. The small red LED will light up saying it has AC power.4. Unplug it - and the light should come on. (This simulates a power failure)5. Repeat steps #2 and 3 above, leaving it plugged in until a power failure or you need to use this as a flashlight.Would be 5 stars if:- it included ambient light sensor to turn on nightlight only when room is dark- it included instructions that explained the 3 main settings of the flashlight - a huge goof by manufacturer
