Great machine and easy to use.
If you have access to you sewer line in lengths of no more than 75 ft, this machine is for you. My sewer line is 110 ft The clean outs are at the house foundation and 40 ft from the house which leaves 70 ft to the city's main sewer line. Of course the blockage had to be at 65 ft from the clean-out and a standard 50 ft plumber's snake wouldn't reach it so I bought and tried a 100 ft snake and that would clear the blockage but only temporally. This machine will reach approximately 75 ft. which allowed me to reach, cut out and remove the blockage. The pick-up tools and rotating cable easily reached the blockage, cut and removed the roots that were the "root" of the problem. :)The machine should pay for itself with one more use.The only issue with the machine (and it's really not an issue) is it has a slight vibration that increases as the cable nears it's end. It's not bad at all but just enough to vibrate the two rubber caps on the base of the frame off. A little glue or silicone sealant will prevent that from happening again.Very pleased with everything about this machine. Well worth the investment.

Very good Very happy
I would need to rod out a slow branch line coming from the kitchen sink (from grease) every year or so with a rental power unit from hd. Inevitably the rental (which was an auto feed type), would clear the blockage enough to get the water flowing- but never clear enough to get the line fully clean unless I were to spend a lot of time on it (which would mean more rental $$$). Having no time restraints with this allowed me to meticulously clear the line which probably came close to paying for it right there. You do have to be careful of course like many others have said and understand there is a slight learning curve. I used different leather gloves than the ones provided (actually gloves that were included with a previous rental), and being a manual feed, you have to muscle the cable yourself- not a big deal- and it does allow you to "feel" when you come across obstructions. The only downside is this thing is HEAVY! I went on the cheap and didn't get the one with wheels as I figured it will not be used that frequently. So using a two wheeler/dolly (or a second person) is helpful when relocating it. Definitely a good buy. Lastly, the instructions that come with it are hilarious. Apparently translated directly from chinese to english- by a person whose knowledge of english was rudimentary at best. Very funny reading. Find some youtube videos if you're uncertain.

Works well, but there is a learning curve and the cable can jam
This machine (the Vevor 1/2-inch x 75-foot version) ultimately cleared my main sewer line problem that was 60 feet or so down my drain, just fine. But, it did have some problems with the cable jamming under the metal cylinder that feeds the cable out the center hole. The cable jammed between that cylinder and one or more of the bolts/nuts on the back surface of the cable reel. It took a bunch of "jockeying" the cable and reel back and forth sometimes because of the jams. Also, if it is not clear enough already from other reviews and descriptions of these machines in general, they do take some practice and experience to be able to use them safely and effectively. You do need to keep the machine as close to your sewer inlet as you can, and only feed the cable in short segments as you go further into the drain. Also, you need to be "fast on the trigger" to stop the motor if you get any hint of a tangle in the cable. Otherwise you risk having it twist and make a kink or worse, have a risk of injuring yourself.Understanding the learning curve is one reason that I decided to buy this machine rather than rent one, and I already knew my problem was more than fifty feet down my sewer since I had tried a 50-foot manual snake first. This allowed me to take plenty of time, and if I got tired or frustrated to take a break and come back later or the next day as desired. That made all of the difference in the world for me.

Missing a critical part
I was trying to figure out why this kept binding. Then it would randomly catch not really on something in the pipe but enough friction to tangle up the cable inside and would have to stop the machine, untangle it. Several times I'd have to pull all the cable out of the basket and refill it. I Though it might have been wound in there wrong the wrong way and tried winding the other way and that just made it dangerous and worse. The problem is it's missing a lock on the basket to stop twisting the cable in the basket. If you are going to get one then I would suggest getting the one with the lock screw and feed lever. You'll notice the rental units without the feed have a some kind of screw to lock the cablenin place where you can pull it into the drain then when you have an obstruction, lock the screw, start the motoe and let it drive into the obstruction and when you see the cable seem to run freely the stop, feed more cable and repeat until the pipe is clean. Also I realized with this 1/2 cable after a certain length it was dry and just grabbed and ripped the gloves. Another time the cable in the cage lossened up as I was just letting it try to clear anything that might be left and cable forced its way out starting a loop that by the time I let go of the foot switch twisted grabbing the glove in the twist and tried to rip it off. For the safety of this machine a locking clamp needs to be added to the nose of the cage. Also the two bladed starting cutter basically stops working the moment it makes contact with toilet paper. I would say the spade bit did the best yet that even stopped at the same place 3/8" hand auger got the last time line got blocked. I would say with a way to lock the cable this could be really good but I didn't want to risk drilling and taping a hole then finding it was a bad cable. I did notice although the cable seems to lay in the cage when freshly wound that when out it has a lot of slight kinks. I might have to rent a larger one or buy one with the drive mechanism. This is also kind of heavy for it to have no wheels and if you have it outside in grass or dirt it will move around on you. Also, the switch is labeled CW and CCW instead of forward and Reverse so make sure when you start it the basket moves in the direction of the arrow. For me if it was more than about 12-16" from the hole then you might have issues with it trying to twist on you. I can see why a 3/4" or 1" cable is more favorable if you have an actual obstruction.
