Good device, confusing documentation.
This device works well, once you figure out the nuances.Small errors (or omissions) in documentation are the culprit.1 - The device will not pair when the door closure sensors are activated (ie. ., Blue light is lit on device) .Solution : Pair with garage door OPEN or unplug the sensor wire from device before attempting to pair.2 - The documentation indicates that you should pair using the "All/Door" category device in Smart Life. There is no "All" category of devices (on Android).Solution: There is a Window/Door device under "Small Home" Appliance category . Use that device or in the "Other" device category, use "Universal Remote" . "Universal Remote" paired nicely after I solved Problem 1.3 - It is almost impossible for 2 or more family members to independently set up their phones with Smartlife and pair to the 1 device.Solution: If 2 or more people wish to control the device and door, the first person to install app and pair would then share the app with the othes. They in turn must "accept". No pairing is necessary on their part.4 - According to enclosed documentation, you need to purchase a USB power supply separately, but mine came with the power supply enclosed. Finally, I have still not been able to get Alexa to recognize the device, but I have an inquiry into the provider - let's see what he says.

Exactly What I Was Looking For
I bought this instead of the MyQ solution because I didn't want to worry about batteries going dead in my door sensor, and I am very happy with my decision. Product worked as advertised. The package came complete with all required hardware and clear instructions. And installation was straight forward. The bottom line is that I am completely satisfied.Below are more details for those interested...I liked that the instructions indicated how to do a quick compatibility test of the unit with the garage door opener before permanently installing any hardware (and it worked great with my basic LiftMaster opener). I was also able to download the Smart Life app and get the unit connected to my Wi-Fi network and visible to the app before installing any hardware. It is worth mentioning that my garage is detached and sits about 30' from the back of my house, and the Wi-Fi Router is in the middle of the house (so the path is about 60' with two interior walls and two exterior walls). Yet, despite the distance and four walls, the unit immediately connected to the network after installation, and I have not experienced any connection issues whatsoever.Installation is very straight-forward, especially if the garage door is flat on the top where the sensor is to be secured. Unfortunately, the top of my garage door is not flat, so I had to get a little bit creative. The top of my garage door has a ridge running down the middle (likely for improved structural integrity), and there is not enough surface area on top of the ridge to keep the sensor bracket stable. Therefore, I cut a small wooden shim (the same height as the ridge in the door, the same width as the bracket, and the depth of the main surface of the top of the door behind the ridge), and I attached the shim from the bottom side of the main door surface using one of the wood screws included with the kit. This way, the bracket is supported in the front by the ridge in the door and in the rear by the shim, and the bracket is secured to the door from the top with a small machine screw, lock washer, and nut installed between the ridge and the shim. (I happened to have a #6 x 1" screw, washer, and nut handy, but you can also get them cheaply at your favorite hardware/home improvement store.) Additionally, the 3M double-sided tape included in the kit was very useful to hold the bracket on the ridge during measurement and installation. I have attached a picture for reference. The Smart Life app is great, and provides an easy interface to control and monitor the state of the garage door. It also provides alerts anytime the garage door opens or closes for any reason (via car remote, button in garage, family member app, etc.). Because my garage is detached with an alley access, I really like that I get these alerts. Also, I use Amazon Echo/Alexa inside my house, so I loaded the Smart Life skill. However, unlike the app that treats the device as a door, Alexa considers the garage door to be a switch/plug that "turns off and on". I didn't want to have to remember if "On" was "Open" or "Closed", so I created two voice routines in the Alexa app, so when I say "Open the garage door", Alexa "turns it on". And when I say "Close the garage door", Alexa "turns it off". These were the first Alexa routines that I have ever created, and it was incredibly simple to do. I have included screen shots to show just how easy it is to associate a typed in audio phrase with an action on a device in the Alexa app.Again, complete system, straight forward installation, and it works great!

Works and you can't beat the price
For about $30, this fulfilled my needs for connecting the garage door to Alexa. The device shows up as a plug instead of a door in Alexa, but that doesn't matter. The device registers as OFF when the door is closed and ON when the door is open. An Alexa routine was able to convert this to "Open the garage" and "Close the garage". I've tested that closing and already closed door does nothing. Same with open. The phone app shows the state of the door and allows schedules. I'm quite happy with this product.

China’s revenge on us USA Citizens and our wallets.
Horrible product . Cheaply made is an understatement. Because I’m a sucker for anything “smart” or techy I powered through and made my husband help me install still. Took a lot longer due to the product being so crappy I had to take apart to fix broken WiFi button and then had to carefully attach to garage door unit. Once it installed it worked . Then the app and program you have to navigate and try to understand they’re broken English instructions and ass backwards set up it all worked ! ...., for about two weeks but it stopped working when I had to restart my router for a different program . So when I climbed up to reset WiFi button ... and unplug and then replug ... it broke completely . Like fell apart. If I can’t send back to amazon I’ll just be throwing in trash. learning real quick anything “affordable” on amazon with broken English information on their amazon selling page is a hack and will pay the extra few bucks for USA MADE. Chinese made products have elicited a new swear word from me due to this happening more frequently.
