I've used this for one season (spring-summer-fall: I stop feeding them around November in New Jersey) and then put them away for the winter, and used them again during the next season. The fish don't seem to mind. Just store them in a place where mice won't get them in the winter.

I've always paid about this amount for the tub size. You thinking maybe the smaller bag for $15? Product is made in Germany. China with tariffs as another answer stated being the reason is misinformation.
