Charming biography
A biography with good English vet and farm stories. Since I can’t see the Yorkshire Vet live in the US this was a nice supplement to episodes I can view on Prime.

Twenty-first century Yorkshire vet
Steeped in the milk of human kindness illuminated in James Herriot’s books, Peter Wright brings the next generation’s perspective on the same veterinary practice thirty years later. Peter Wrightgrew up in the same neighborhood as and was inspired to become a vet by the real characters who inspired the books by James Herriot. He reveals a real love of the region, the animals, the profession and the people. While not the same brilliant story teller as Herriot, Peter Wright gives us a treat to get another window onto these characters and their legacy

The Path well followed
I am so happy to find Peter Wright's memoir. The Yorkshire Vet was one of the 1st programs I watched on Acorn Media streaming service. The same joy & ethos I feltreading the Alf Wight books also shine through this biography of Alf's trainee, Peter. Now that Acorn TV has added series 3-5 of The Yorkshire Vet I can continue to watch with greater understanding of the importance of the country vet in Great Britain. For all the ups & downs of vet practice & the big decisions that have to be made, I think Alf Wight & Donald Sinclair would say to Peter & all of the people of Skeldale Veterinary Centre, well done, you!

Very easy interesting, informative, easy read.
This book was so enjoyable. Touching on Mr. Wright's formative years, working with Alf Wight and Donald Sinclair, and up through opening Skeldale and filming the Yorkshire Vet. Luckily, I was introduced to The Yorkshire Vet through Acorn TV. I especially enjoyed meeting the interesting Yorkshire folks the Peter has encountered through the years, and the animals he has treated. I liked hearing his views on climate change, the changing farming scene, both good and bad, and even about depression (being a person that suffers from depression). This book showed what a compassionate, caring man Mr. Wright is. I would recommend this book to anyone.

A Delightful Read
Wonderful, Herriot-style book. It brought to life, once more, the people, places, animals and character of Yorkshire. When people ask me if I've ever been to Yorkshire, I happily answer, yes, through the wonder of books - Herriot's and Peter's. Thanks for the journeys.

A wonderful memoir
I loved this book! As an avid James Herriott fan, this book brought me I to that world again, only in the present day this time. I enjoyed the personal anecdotes about Alf Wight and Donald Sinclair as well as new stories of the wonderful people of Thirsk and the surrounding countryside.

Another great read!
I enjoy reading tales of all the Yorkshire vets. Their writing styles are different from each other and that adds to the richness of the read. Love those twinkly eyes, Peter!

a successor to James Herriot.
Peter's book gives a real insight into his life. The caring Vet we see on Yorkshire Vet who follows James Herriots footsteps is as kind and interesting in person as he is on TV.

Just wonderful...
An excellent read about a wonderful Herriot like vet, Peter. Love the TV Show and to read the background stories makes it even more relatable. Humorous and also thoughtful and sometimes sad, however beautifully written. A book to be enjoyed by all James Herriot lovers, you won't be disappointed.

A pleasant read
Peter's book was well written, pleasant and quite funny in places but not quite up to the standard of the brilliant James Herriots books.

The Herriot legacy continues.
A thoroughly enjoyable book. This is not an attempt by Peter to emulate the wonderful storytelling of his old boss (though he does tell a story very well indeed), it is a warts and all recap of his life as a Yorkshire vet. It is very personal, honest and at times very emotional. It is also very funny and, like the Herriot books, places Yorkshire on the pedestal it deserves. If you are reading this Peter, many congratulations on your first book, I hope you find the time to write more. I’m sure everyone who reads this book wishes you and your family many years of good health and happiness. Time for the optimist in you to show its face and let you realise what an enormous success your life has been. Oh, and you had better sign my copy if I see you around Yorkshire or else.... oh hang on, I bought the Kindle version :(
