Good gun
Heats fast, seems reliable. I've had it for over a year and it keeps on ticking. I use it for many things but I bought it for model rocketry and pyrotechnics. Obviously it could be used for anything that needs a robust glue gun.

Melts the glue and accurately controls where the glue goes
Very satisfied with the performance and features of this gun. Nice to have a built-in stand. Hand never gets tired of pulling the trigger.

Why didn't I buy one years ago???
After struggling with crappy craft glue guns, I decided to get a professional one. What a difference. All the uses of a glue gun never occurred to me, because craft glue guns are so limited. I might drag one out twice a year to do something I couldn't do any other way. Now I use it several times a week in woodworking and home repairs. I learn new uses almost every time I plug it in. Dozens of youtube videos with simple and innovative chores for a REAL glue gun like this one.I'm working on a way to recycle PLA scrap from my 3D printing projects using this glue gun.

you'll toss your craft gun
this is a very nice gun, but large. like twice the size of a craft gun. it has a built in stand, and a useless nose version that doesn't do anything and there is no indication on how to install it. but that's a minor point.it has a temp control on the bottom, i set it for the highest, but i found it doesn't heat any faster. and at the highest it oozes on the table, at 350 it doesn't do that. i like that it has a thermostat in it. it means the glue is only has hot as it needs to be, and it doesn't boil like other guns.it comes with 2 tips? and both are the same size? i don't get that. i would think it should be two sizes, they look the same to me. the tip is metal, the rest is a plastic or maybe ceramic of some kind, its not all metal. but i still burned myself anyway.i have to get used to this having a switch, its easy to not turn it on or not turn it off.this thing eats glue. i haven't tried a 4" stick yet, but it seems to need about 1.5" of glue to feed. and unlike a craft gun that feeds on the inside (needing like a 1/2" of glue), this does it on the outside. so you'll need 10" sticks.it comes in a comically large case. i have no idea why, its probably going to end up in the trash, its like 3 times the size of a gun, i can keep a whole drill in that thing if it wasn't molded for the gun.

Great glue gun, one minor flaw.
A really excellent tool. Good heating power, but it does have one small flaw: The contacts in the bimetal thermostat can get dirty after a few years and it will stop heating up properly. It is a simple matter to open the unit and clean them with a sheet of paper. This returns the unit to service for another 2-3 years. It is a very simple machine, just a neon illuminated rocker switch, a safety thermal fuse, the heater assembly and the bimetal thermostat. The mechanical feed system is simple and elegant. The nozzles are replaceable and have drool-reduction valves. It is quite a serviceable unit unless the heater fails. The heater is not a PTC unit, its hot resistance is about 61 ohms (almost exactly 200 watt RMS from 110 volts). Servicing the heater if it goes open-circuit is probably not worthwhile, but the thermostat contact problem is more likely to occur first. The thermostat seems unlikely to weld-on, which would probably result in the thermal safety fuse opening. You certainly can't just bypass the thermostat, but you could add a different kind of thermal switch.

Professional Tool!!!
This is my first experience with the $100 guns. What an incredible difference from the entry level cheapies. Much more precise and reliable control of glue flow. Adjustable higher temp allows for use of better quality hot glue. So much better work flow than the $30 units. The price difference is justified if you do a wide range of hot glue tasks especially when high strength is required. The lower temp guns cannot utilize the higher bonding strength glues of hi temps guns. The bigger size does not mean big weight difference in lbs so size is not a big factor. There are also numerous types of tips that are available to more precisely control the glue flow if required. In this case you really get what you pay for. One good thing with the cheap gun experience is the instant appreciation that occurs when you use a professional gun.

Quality tools are easier to use
I've bought a couple mid-range hot glue guns, and always struggled to get the right amount of glue in the right place. I figured I was just inept. Then I was convinced to splurge on one of these, and I'm glad I did. If you want to put down a nice, even bead of hot glue, this is the tool you want to use. I think it's better able to keep the glue at the working temperature, even as you push the hot stuff out and feed in fresh sticks. The trigger hasn't bound up like they cheaper ones have done on me. I don't think it's better technology, just a more refined and tuned design.
