Cannon Digi Troll 10 Downrigger

I bought 4 of these units for my new fishing boat. They are awesome!! On the maiden launch of the new boat I got distracted with all the new equipment and snagged one of the downriggers on some sharp rocks below. Couldn't figure out how to get the trolling motor auto pilot to disengage and in horror I grabbed the downrigger just as the inertia of the boat ripped it from it's mounting base and as it was heading for the bottom of the lake. It was a lot of force but I was able to hang on just long enough for the boat to come to a stop. I sent the whole thing back to the factory & told them what I had done. It came back within a week and with an entirely new outer casing and new base mounting bracket and a note that said "No Charge!" I couldn't believe it!!! I guess Cannon even warranties "stupid!" So for new users, the lesson I quickly learned is make sure your clutch tension is loose enough that should you snag something with with your weight it won't pull the downrigger off it's mounting bracket. The Cannon Digi Troll 10 are amazing and all of mine are linked together. I am going to purchase the water temp sensor as well.Denny

The products great probably the best downrigger ever built love how you could hook it up at the transducer the only problem was when I got my first one they put it in a giant box with no bubblewrap on each side and the edges crushed in on the box they also shipped me a box of look like it was open and somebody else Had my downrigger but anyways great product they're fixing the problem send me a new one and I'm sure when it comes it's going to work perfect and I'm gonna catch tons of fish Arima baby

yes you pay for the features but I love the two best ones, bottom tracking and depth oscillating... depends what I am fishing for!

Everything works except it keeps losing bottom depth causing the unit to retrieve all line and or release too much. Needs improvement. May upgrade to 5 stars if this gets resolved.

I like my cannons and bought them mostly for the bottom tracking feature. Without this I would have bought scotties. There is a known issue of the unit loosing bottom and bringing the balls to the surface. I was out Sunday and it happened several times in 150’ of water.

I have used this model on both Mooselookmeguntic and Rangeley Lakes, it has improved my experience immensely. It is so much better than constantly reeling up and sending down the weight ball and attached lure. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to quit for the day after the bait pops off for no reason for the 5th time in a row and I need to wind up 150 feet of braided steel. This is an expensive piece of equipment, but good downriggers are not cheap to begin with, so if I want one that does a lot of the work for me then I'm willing to pay extra. I really like the bottom tracking feature, the size of the fish I have caught and the number has gone up dramatically in the normally slow mid summer season. If I wanted to "track" the bottom before it was a 2 man job with one watching the screen and one constantly adjusting the rod and the downrigger, even then we would only do it once every 10 min since it was such a pain. With this rig we can keep the ball down low without snagging and losing it (as I have done many times) and it gives me both piece of mind and more fish. All in all, I recommend it.

This is the ultimate if your lake changes depth frequently and you want to fish a defined depth off the bottom.
