An informative read with a bunch of information about Europe through the years. This is a worth the read read. Keep up the great work.

The content of this book is excellent and for the most part well written. It consists of five parts, the first of which is in the nature of an executive summary with the others dealing in depth, respectively, with classical antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and Early Modern Europe. It is clear that different people wrote the different parts. To me, the quality of the writing declined as the book went on. There are numerous grammatical errors and some gratuitous politically judgmental statements. Paragraphs are not indented, which, in a book of this length (553 pages) makes the page less inviting than it might be. Overall, though, outstanding overview. Early chapters are especially engagingly written. Also, there is no index, which, in my opinion, is a major flaw in a history book.

Nice history book - summarizes key events nicely

A pretty good primer for those looking for jumping off points about specific areas of interest.

This book isn’t really one book it’s 5 different books and you can tell that the authors are very different. For example, I’ve finished reading the 3rd book discussing the Middle Ages and the author of that book is very adamant that the Middle Ages isn’t really the dark ages, a idea I agree with, but then in the introduction to the next book the first few sentences describe how they believe it can be described as the dark ages.Good book just some contradictory things

The book was a good overview, but by its nature, it was often lacking in detail. It is a good introduction to the subject but not at all in detail.
