FIDECO M.2 SSD Enclosure, USB 3.1 Gen 2 to NVME PCIe M-Key External Enclosure with UASP for M.2 NVME SSD 2230/2242/2260/2280

I've had this for a couple of months now. Thus far it's doing quite well. It does tend to get warm if you leave it attached to your PC/laptop for over an hour. For that reason, I started using it merely as a secondary back up feature ONLY. I do not use it as a working disk.Cons: Very difficult to open. I had to watch YouTube reviews to make sure I was opening it correctly and there wasn't a hidden switch, knob, or something. I scratched the surface trying to pry it open. But once I got it open all was well.Runs hot after prolonged use. The case gets pretty hot. Which means the SSD is baking in there. Yikes! I highly recommend not leaving it plugged into your USB for extend periods.It seems a bit pricey for what it is, but that could be me.

the chip mine came with is RTL9210B make sure to update firmware to get the fastest possible speeds the one i got had the 1.22 version. newest i found is 1.33.44.011824

Overall, it's a nice little adapter, very easy to use and gives speed of sequential R/W, 1046MB/s and 1029MB/s (orginal Dell Hynix 1tb ssd mounted) plugged into thunderbolt port on XPS 15 9500. There are a few things to consider: 1. The enclosure is very WARM when the ssd is working continuously even with thermal pad and low profile heatsink on the ssd. 2. Case won't close with heatsink on a 1mm thermal pad. I had to buy 0.5mm thermal pad to make it tight fit. 3. The enclosure need vent holes to let hot air to escape. 4. Slide gooves could be a bit deeper so that the cover won't slip off as in my case mentioned in point 2. Overall, it's a nice product for cloning and spare usb storage. I hope the seller will read this review and make some improvements on it, then it will be 5-star product.

If your USB port is anything less than usb 3.0 (ie 2.0), it will corrupt your SSD and you will loose all your data. This happens instantly when you plug it into a standard USB type A female port that is not USB 3.0 or above. Unfortunately it is only backward compatible to USB 3.0 yet the type A female USB ports look identical. If you are not sure, test it without any critical data on the SSD. The symptoms will be you will hear the system acknowledge a new USB device, and then instantly it will disappear along with your data. You will need to reformat the SSD on a system that has USB 3.0; 3.1, or 3.2 supported type A or Type C support. BE AWARE. THE DESCRIPTION SAYS IT IS BACKWARD COMPATIBLE TO USB 3.0. SO BUYER BEWARE! Be sure of what you are plugging it into before you plug it in. Your data is gone instantly if you plug into a USB 20 port!

This is my second Fideco NMVE Enclosure, no problem with either one.as other have mention before, this enclosure is a little hard to open, since the removable cover is smooth, I added a small piece of tape in order to get some grip and it works.no issues with overheating, since this is a portable enclosure, I do not keep it connected for hours and hours.

Good product

Works amazing and boots up extremely fast. No software to install or just plug in the drive to your usb outlet and your done. Thought I would have lost all my data but it's all there mo problem. Thank you
