ThorlosWomen's 84 Maximum Cushion Low Cut Running Socks

Thick in some areas but they eliminate hot spots and blisters. Worth the investment!
First some background so you know where I'm coming from: I run in New Balance women's WX608V3 cross training shoes, size 9B. They're clunky shoes, not a minimalist running shoe by any means, but they're the best running shoe I have found in terms of arch support. I'm fairly new to running, only up to 3 miles 2-3 times a week, and I was wearing mid-weight cotton socks and frequently getting hot spots and blisters. One of my friends told me cotton was a HUGE mistake for running and suggested I look into synthetic. I already have (and like) a couple of pairs of the Thorlo hiking socks, so I started with this brand. I don't have a lot of experience with other specialty running socks. So far these socks are worth the investment. I bought one pair and washed them inside out (as recommended on the packaging) before wearing. I did my usual run and did not get a hot spots or blister and my feet stayed cooler and dryer. The toe and heel area of these socks (basically the gray areas in the picture) are pretty thick with padding, although the rest of the sock is thinner. As I said, I used to run in mid-weight all cotton socks, so I didn't have to change the lacing on my clunker shoes too much to fit these, but if you are used to wearing super thin socks or have tighter fitting / more streamlined shoes these socks may be too thick for you.I only have one pair, so even though I've only had them a few weeks I've washed and dried these socks probably a dozen times already, always inside out as recommended. They look and feel as good as new, and judging by the Thorlo hiking socks I have (and have used for years) these socks will hold up well. I'm considering buying another pair just so I don't have to remember to wash them after every run!UPDATE: Got two more pairs for Christmas and still happy with them. My first pair are almost a year old and still as good as new through weekly washing / wearing.

Soft and Cushy
These socks are very cushy. With no layer of fat on the bottom of my feet, cushioning is very important. This is the second time I have purchased these socks. They are great.

Terrific sock!
I had purchased this brand of socks twice before and been extremely happy. I wear a size 5-1/2 -6 shoe. Size small sock fit perfect. It does exactly as advertised and it is the only brand I will buy for walking/running. This is the first time, I ordered these socks on line through Amazon. I am disappointed that a few threads popped up after the 1st wash.

Great for cushioned running
I buy these over and over again for distance running. I like a well cushioned sock. They are thinner on top for breathability and double cushioned at balls of feet and bottom of heel, and up the back of the heel. The Thorlos tennis specific socks may be the only others that are more padded than these. I love those also for running, but they only come in white and have a thicker, above ankle elastic band.

Saved My Toenail
I can't stop raving about these socks. They provide excellent cushion in the toe and heel areas. Very comfortable. I was suffering from a runners toenail problem which was quickly solved by these socks. Also, they saved me the extra cost of purchasing another pair of expensive running sneakers. Highly recommend.

Not that great
Just received these socks today. So far I'm not impressed. The padding is minimal and the socks are rather thin. I think I could do just as well simply wearing 2 pair of socks at once.
