Best Source of Jyotish
A bit advanced for novice readers, but if you have solid foundations in Jyotish, this is the only guide book to consult. Excellent - 5 stars.

Astrology means Jyotir Veda
The Vedas are the instruction manual that came with the Universe. This book is a vessel to cross the ocean of astrology effortlessly. Jyotish is the science of lights and grahas, planets. All of the original Sanskrit is shown here. Very valuable and enlightening books.

Be careful with this book, it is not for ordinary people
This is an essential text in astrology if we are going to reconstruct the science perfectly. However as it stands, Jyotish is on very shaky foundations due to the so called contraversy of sidereal versus tropical zodiac. This book does nothing to resolve that problem. It has been suggested by some that this shastra has been interpolated, just as some of the puranas have been interpolated in the past. For example, some Vaishnavas claim that in their version of the Puranas, it is said that reading of the so called tamasic puranas (their definition) like Shiva Purana and Devi Bhagavatam lead one to hell. So it is clear we have to be very careful here, and take the shelter of a guru before studying something as ancient and sacred as Jyotish. With that said, this translation is not very good, and the devanagari is very poorly printed, sometimes you cannot read certain letters and that makes it very difficult for chanting, if that is your aim. I do not recommend study of this text without being able to chant the sanskrit, however, there are some goals to be achieved by mastery of the basics of the planets, however understanding them in their real nature requires meditation and sadhana, something not to be avoided. Likewise, if you want to understand physics, you have to understand mathematics first. So, take your time with this. Realize this is a text beyond normal shastra, even puranas, in the sense that mastery of it gives you insight into the past present and future. And insult of the science, whether by ego or mistake, can lead one to a hell called raurava where you will be reborn blind. Remember this, it's in the book. Jyotish should not be taught to the egotistical or those with material goals in mind. It is a sacred science for the brahmin, a humble person, who is thankful and worshipful to God.
