When I received the emergency light bulbs I installed them in a table lamp. It lit up but when I unplugged the lamp to see what would happen if the power went off it didn't work.Through experimentation, I unplugged the plug from the wall outlet and toughed both prongs together and the light bulb lit. Then I took the light bulb out of the lamp and jumped the center connector with the base and the light bulb lit.I tried contacting the manufacturer through Google to no avail, then I read from a card that was included with the light bulbs and sent an email to the address. I got a reply one day later. I again described the problem I was having and did not receive a reply.A final note: the published instructions on Amazon's are very vague and ambiguous, my suggestions are do not buy this product until Amazon publishes a more detailed instruction on how to connect this product to american receptacles.UpdateA representative of the manufacturer contacted via email he relayed his disappointment in my frustration and promises to send free of charge new bulbs. Which I received three days later.The emergency light bulbs work as advertised. The only problem is they do not light up when the power cord is disconnected simulating a power failure. They will light up using the provided hangers.An updated review.In October of 2020 hurricane Zeta hit the SE Louisiana where I live. The Rechargeable Emergency LED Bulb 1200mAh 15W 80W worked perfectly. I had them installed in all lamps. When the poser went off, all bulbs I had installed stayed lit. They lasted approximately 6 hours.I would recommend this product to everybody needing emergency backup lighting.

These are a little dimmer than I had hoped, but they will do the job when there’s a power failure. I usually bring in solar lights from the yard, but they are dim too so these lights will add to them and hopefully provide better lighting. I like that they can be controlled on the hook provided with the on/off button. It’s nice that they hang too. They are very large but I charge them in my dining room light fixture no problem.

They work fine on a table lantern that has a off and on switch but when I put them on a ceiling light with a wall switch, they turn on and turn off but after thirty seconds or so they turn right back on again and stay on. Weird. Too bad I wanted to replace all my ceiling lights with them so when the power goes out my ceiling lights would work. Moreover these are big bulbs so table lanterns with small shades the bulbs will stick out the top.

Great Product

Well, they light up fine when you put them in the socket. I assume they charge while in the socket, while the light is on. The downside, you turn your light switch off, and the bulbs stay lit. Major flaw. There is no way to turn the bulb off without taking it out of the socket. Defeats the purpose of putting it in the socket to begin with and using it on a daily basis. Likely sending back as there is no way to turn the bulb off without draining the battery while in the socket. Not functionally usable on a daily basis.

Best investment

Easy to install, and just what I wanted in an emergency. Color is not too bright but bright enough.
