Good , Solid introductory work on the SAAF in the Bush War
This work is an interesting and effective work on the subject. It is particularly useful for scale modellers as it provides profiles and details on the color schemes and markings of the south african aircraft involved. It also provides details on the operations and even some coverage is given on more technical subjects such as tactics, weapon systems and the like. It is not a blow by blow narrative on the subject ( for that better go to the excellent Eagle to Fledgling by Dick Lord) but is a very good introductory volume.

Excellent and very detailed book on the SAAF ops in Angola

A good read but better covered elsewhere
Some useful political background detail, but a far better read is Dick Lord's "Fledgling to Eagle". As an ex SAAF pilot I was hoping for more from a pilot's perspective. Both though, tend to focus on the fixed wing side of things, which is a pity, because some really interesting ops were flown by choppers.

Good introduction
This book tells in good detail about the planes and tactics of the South African Air Force during the Border War in Angola to try to defeat the communist backed SWAPO group that was working to free South West Africa (Namibia) from South African control. The story is told in order by the author, from the late 1960's ground strike missions, to the late 70's and 1980's dogfights with the Angolans, and support of the South African Army's operations in the border zone. The color plates which show the camouflage markings of the SAAF really make the book for modelers. This is one books I'm glad I got, and makes me look forward to getting more of the series.

A GREAT READ
A Great read. Gives a good and interesting in sight into the South African Border War not just 1975 to 1989 but to 1966 in Angola and South West Africa now Namibia helping Portuguese. The Border War came full scale and almost Nuclear with the largest Battles in Africa since the WW2 North Africa battles. up 100,000 Cubans helping in Angola also with Russia help of course. Book starts with a back ground of the 2 Boer Wars and South African clearing the Germen African Colonialism in WW1.

A reasonable publication
Not as many pages and photos as I had expected; and soft cover was a surprise.Nevertheless a useful publication

Interessantissima serie

bad boook lacking rigou and precison
Descriptions des opérations aériennes assez sommaires et peu précises et par contre beaucoup de commentaires douteux et peu clairs. Anglais "colloquial" et peu "pointu". Un seul bon point pour le maquettiste: les profils couleur d'avions.
