Sipliv 6117 Fine Nib Fountain Pen with Golden Cap - Black

It's a shame no one has reviewed this pen yet. I'm honoured to be first, but this pen deserves a lot more attention than it has gotten here so far. So here is my review of it after using it for two weeks.Build qualityNo issues at this point, but it's been only 2 weeks. I've bought Chinese pens before and have reason to be concerned about a number of QC issues: cap too loose, enamel flakes off body, clip comes loose . . . None of these things have happened to this pen. It's holding up quite solidly after 2 weeks of writing. The cap fits super snugly, with a loud click. This maintains a good airtight seal so the nib is always wet and ready to go and starts up without a hitch.The pen came with a push-in type converter. And the package came with a gift box.AestheticsAs can be seen from the pictures this is a very attractive pen. It has a lovely royal blue/purple which is simply gorgeous! The gold trim is a great complement also. As can be seen from the pictures the pen has two bands of gold knurling: on the cap and on the body. In both cases they are both about form and also function. The knurling on the cap gives greater grip to aid one-handed removal of the cap between thumb and forefinger. The knurling on the body is broad enough to enhance your grasp of the pen, but narrow enough to not interfere with your writing grip.Writing performanceThis is where this pen really shines. The nib glides over paper and is appreciably wet (I'm using Blue State Blue). It is a dream to write with. Like all my other pen delights I search for things to write as an excuse to use this pen.The nib is fine. For those who prefer an extra-fine effect I found that this pen gives a very reliable line if I write with the nib inverted. See writing sample photo attached. No starting problems, no line breaks, no scratchy feel. Thankfully, the nib is not so fine as to make you fearful of ripping the paper.SummaryIf you like to write, get this pen.This is a wonderful writing instrument at a fantastic price, for the writing quality. It's not a major brand but it delivers big time.

When it writes, it does write smoothly, however, it only has a perfect angle you need to find. Also, requires nudging it to let out ink if you don't use it all the time. The blue paint is starting to peel. Does not compare to Pilot Metropolitan which is about the same price which writes perfectly all the time. It does feel solid though and is not breaking apart as I was afraid of as I have had another Chinese pen.

I like the way it handles and the tip most of all. I use it alot when writing in my journal.

After trying the pen out for a few weeks, I can say that it is a decent pen. However, the pen started to leak and opening the pen is now a hassle due to excessive ink.

This is a beautiful pen that writes very well. I use it as one of my steady pens in my collection of pens. It is lightweight, but not too light and it handles well for small hands.

The pen writes great and look nice. It fit well in hand and has nice weight to it.
