An easy 15 minute fix... just requires a little patience.
If your Maytag gas dryer won't heat and you don't hear the "click" associated with the gas valve solenoids opening, this is probably the culprit. It was an easy fix (about 15 minutes from tool collection to final testing) and worked like a charm. This part is a "genuine" replacement part. There are cheaper ones, but they're cheaper for a reason. You need two tools: A philips head screw driver and a 1/4" box wrench. You could use a 1/4" socket, but mine didn't seem to like the head of the screw, so I chose the box wrench to avoid rounding off the hex. An open end will work as well.To test the igniter: Remove the door (two screws and lift the door slightly) using the philips head screw driver and place it somewhere safe. Try not to bend the hinge ends as that complicates reassembly (they have small projections to hold them in after you remove the screws). Put the screws in a plastic bag or tray so they don't fall into some place you can't retrieve them. Then remove the screws on the opposite side of the opening. All you have to do then is pull forward on the front of the top of the cabinet. It will pull forward (spring clips hold it on). Lift it up (it sits on two metal tabs) and put it aside. The guts of the dryer are now exposed. To test the igniter turn the dryer on and hold the button in that is usually depressed by the door being closed. If the igniter glows red, it's not bad. Something else has gone south - likely the solenoids. If you determine the igniter is bad, turn off the dryer and UNPLUG IT. You do not want to short / arc anything inside the cabinet or it could blow out some other component - worst one would be the control board which is a few hundred bucks and is NLA new - or light yourself up. So... pull the plug.Next, disconnect the wires (they're simply connected by a plug - work it loose but don't pull it apart by the wires), loosen the screw securing the igniter (you don't have to remove it), and slide out the igniter. You will likely see the crack in the igniter. It will have a white haze around it. That is where it's toasty. If it's cracked (and mine was), the current cannot travel to the solenoids to open the gas valve. Hence, the "no click" that normally precedes the ignition of the burner.Next, remove the new igniter from it's protective packaging. DO NOT TOUCH THE METAL ELEMENT (sorry to shout). Handle it by the plastic base. If you touch the metal, the oils from your skin will cause it to burn up faster (or so I'm told). Slide the igniter back into the mount, tighten the screw, and plug the igniter back into the harness. Remove your tools, life, limb, clothing, and anything else you don't want to burn before proceeding. Plug in the dryer, turn it on, hold the button in, wait a few seconds and you should see it glow.... and then hear the gratifying "click" that allows the gas to flow and see a flame out of the orifice. Once you see it works, reassemble the cabinet and you're $200+ repair is done.As a suggestion (and while unplugged) tidy up the inside by vacuuming out the lint that will be all over the inside of the cabinet. I used a shop vac and a soft bristled paint brush to loosen the lint off the wiring and other mechanical/electronic parts and sucked it up with the vacuum. Be gentle.... but make sure that there's not an obscene amount of lint inside the machine as that stuff is extremely flammable. While you're at it, check the exhaust vent to see that it's not full either. You have now fixed your dryer. So, in 15 minutes, you saved $200+ or so on a repair or avoided buying a new machine. The more we can keep out of the landfill, the better off we are.I even got a hug when the machine came back to life.

Worked on my 20 year old dryer
The old igniter was obviously bad as you could see a crack in it. After replacing it, my dryer still didn't work. Diagnosed a bad heat sensor. I'm pretty sure the bad heat sensor caused the igniter to go bad as it would just stay hot for a long time. Hopefully this is helpful to others trying to keep their old dryer running. Both parts are cheap and very simple to replace.

Fixed Dryer. Saved $800
My dryer stopped providing heat and took a very long time to dry on cool air. I replaced the solenoids and a few thermal sensors, but, no luck. After a few internet searches, the igniter seemed to be the next source as it never appeared to heat (get red hot). I replaced it within a few minutes and it was back to running. I was very, very happy because if the igniter was not the source, I would have bought a new gas dryer. If you take your front of your dryer and run it, if the igniter gets red hot, but, the gas never goes on, it is probably the solenoid valves. If it does not get red hot, it may well be the igniter.

Perfect for Dryer Repair
This part is exactly what went wrong with my dryer. My husband was able to locate the issue, identify the part and order it quickly. Arrived in two days and I was back doing laundry. Works great and I appreciate the availability and fast turn-around time on the order. Will order again if needed (though hopefully it won't be needed for some time!)

First one died after two loads went thru it.Amazon prime replaced it right away with no extra costs to me. The replacement unit has done many loads now.The box say original replacement factory parts, so they are as good as it gets. Our dryer is super old and this part had been changed before after getting to this part to change it for our selves. Glad to see it keep on keeping on!

Worked as expected - in a nice plastic hard case
This was exactly what I needed. My maytag drier stopped drying. It would spin and everything else worked but no head. Upon visual inspection there was a small "cut" in my existing igniter and it should be continuous. It was also sparking. This part should heat up and glow and then after a few seconds the gas kicks on and all is well. Upon replacing, make sure you DO NOT touch the element itself. Oils from your skin are bad for it and will cause it to burn out early.Part arrived and worked great. Cheaper than Dey Distributing locally by $22. No brainer with 2-day free prime shipping.

Good Quality Part with Easy DIY Installation
I'm a do it yourself guy not a plumber or HVAC guy so researching what I needed to try and replace this part for my dryer that after opening the dryer up and discovering a crack in the igniter ceramic after many years of valiant service, I took a chance at repairing this with this part. It was easy to confirm the part for the model number of the dryer using Amazon's quick confirmation check so I went for it. Installation was easy and I was drying clothes again within 2 days.Delivery was great, Packaging was great. Installation intuitive as you simply reverse the old part removal process. Dryer works better than ever. Great value compared to time and money to have a plumber service this issue.

Perfect OEM igniter replacement for my Maytag dryer
When a gas dryer seems to work except there is no heat, it is often the gas valve solenoid coils. Probably the second most common problem is a broken igniter. If there is a visible break in the igniter, it definitely needs to be replaced. Even if there is no visible break, it could still be bad,. There are plenty of videos and websites that will show you how to check it with an ohm meter. This part is a perfect OEM replacement on my 20+ year old Maytag LDG9334AAE dryer. Installation is easy and probably took about 15 minutes.
