Q: How do you go about cleaning the hat?

You can wash it inside the washer. It still works just fine and keeps the texture and does not damage the hat shape.

Good question! I was in a similar position as you. Wanted to wear a hat but did not want to compromise the style of wearing a hat by putting a durag under it. Makes the hat too tight and uncomfortable so I decided to make it one thing. As far as testing it I am a "waver" myself. When I would wear it throughout the day I would find that after taking it off my hair was laid down just like I had a durag on.

Q: Will the product still work the same if you wear the hat backwards?

Yes. I can assure you the product will work the same if worn in your desired style. The inside is lined with the durag material all inside the dome of the hat.
