These shelves are great value for money
These shelves are great value for money, full stop. Ok, if you are a member of the snow flake generation you may want to gain some assistance from an older member of your family or perhaps someone who has a tiny pinch of common sense. I went through a load of reviews before I bought these racks and let me address a few of the negative points that were highlighted. Sharp edges, I read reviews from people who claim that if you dont wear gloves you will cut your hands. Honestly I cannot understand what these people were trying to do, the only remotely sharp edges are at the very ends of the uprights and the long and short cross pieces. If your hands are those of person, who considers hard work, taping on a keyboard all day then soaking your tried poorly little paws in lavender oil, then yes you might want to avoid these areas but you don't have to touch them anyway and if you are, your doing it wrong !! Bending the tab, oh my Lord what hardship could be worse than having to put a tiny bit of pressure on a flexible piece of metal with your thumb , I can't imagine the distress this must cause, oh but yes I can because I have read some of the idiotic reviews. Look at the price you have just paid, this is not perfectly engineered, it's not a Lego set, it does require some very occasional, slight adjustment but its far from rocket science and if you have half a grain of common sense in your head , I'm pretty sure you can manage to assemble these shelves. You do not need two people to assembly this, it is helpful granted but just prop it against a wall, very simple, a degree in mechanical engineering is not required, just get on with it. They are not hard to assemble, they are incredibly simple and well thought out, just a standard design you would find on far more expensive units. Perhaps the instructions could be clearer for those who struggle to boil a kettle or tie there shoe laces, again perhaps you have a regular carer who can take on the burden of this task for you. So in summary what you get for the pittance you have paid is a strong and sturdy shelving unit, that isn't high end quality but does a perfectly good job and I suspect could be assembled by a chimpanzee with flat blade screwdriver and a rubber mallet. Buy them and man or women up, then you have just got yourself a bargin and if the shelves are going to be in an area that will expose the mdf to moisture seal them with a coat of varnish, simples.

Good product and good value for money
I don't often write product reviews because they can be very subjective, and what works for one person doesn't always work for someone else. However, some time ago I purchased and assembled a similar set of shelving to these for a friend, only from a well-known manufacturer and considerably more expensive than these, with a higher "weight-per-shelf" rating. Having recently decided that I needed a set of shelves myself for the garage, I knew that the 175kg rating per shelf for these would be acceptable, but I had initial reservations about the build quality due to the much lower price. I need not have worried. I bought a single 900 mm x 400 mm 5-shelf bay, and the assembly was just as easy and straightforward as the more expensive ones that I had built before. Also I was very impressed with the quality of the materials. The metal might be a slightly lighter gauge, but this is to be expected as the weight-rating is lower. However, once assembled I found the structure to be extremely sturdy and rigid. There is no flexing of the framework, and I don't anticipate any problems as long as the shelves are not overloaded beyond their recommended capacity. As I only had the one bay, I didn't need to join two bays together. If you feel that you need to do this, then from my previous experience of erecting three similar bays for my friend I would have to say that I didn't find the little clips that join the bays together to work very well. They had the effect of preventing all four of the plastic feet on each bay from sitting on the floor, by causing the outermost feet to "rise up" and "float" in the air whilst the whole assembly "rocked" from side to side on the middle feet. I have no reason to suppose that these would be any different, and I would suggest that if you require multiple bays, you would find it better to leave some space between them, and order more wall-fixing brackets (if required), to attach each bay individually. However, all in all an excellent product with a good, clear instruction booklet enclosed, and very good value for money from G-Rack.

Great product - would recommend
These are some great shelves, good quality and relatively easy to put together (i would recommend a rubber mallet - i just used a camping one). These are much better quality than the same type of shelves at most DIY stores and half the price too! It's lost one star because the feet aren't rubber but cheap plastic (one broke) and it took me more time to attach them than it took to put the rest of it together! I had to prise open the feet with a screwdriver to get them to fit on the metal brackets. Otherwise, they look great, very solid and look like they will last a good many years!
