a really versatile pedal
this pedal is not for a simple set it and forget it kinda approach. you'll be constantly tweaking the knobs to get more sounds. Looking a for a classic distortion tone, Set the drive to past noon and low that push control. now set your desired EQ with the flexible mids and you're done. Want a overblown, cranked up distortion? crank that PUSH knob at your own risk, cuz now responsiveness is the name of the game, play hard and you'll hear that overblown, fuzzy, "circuit can't handle it anymore" tone that most of people seek.An amazing pedal.

A perfect all around utility pedal for both overdrive and distortion
Love this pedal. I needed a less digital sounding ‘pre amp’-ish pedal for my boss katana, and this pedal really does the trick on a clean channel without too much crackling. It also is capable of very pleasing hard rock distortion on a gain channel. One thing I would say though, with the 2 mid knobs you might think you’re getting a mid forward live performance tone beast. This is not the case. The mid adjustments are more nuanced than you might think, and allow for fine adjustment of the overall ‘vibe’, which I enjoyed for very practical moves, if you have the ear for it.Oh yeah, it’s also the most gorgeous pedal ever created! Just try not to hear with your eyes.

Outsatanding 2 in 1 pedal.
I'm a bassist and this pedal works flawlessly with my jazz bass. It does most of what a SansAmp does but with a wider variety of flavors and the option to push the signal when you want to rock it out. I'm confident this will work amazingly with guitars. The only thing that could improve this pedal would be an additional control for the mid sweep, alongside the mid frequency and level controls. This pedal is excellent when feeding a slightly cranked amp and also works great with a Darkglass distortion pedal. The design and look is truly a piece of art!

Awesome Potential For Your Sound :^)
So versatile and generally inspiring; def has the tube like sound, but you don't have to commit to it; sooo many different distortion/overdrive possibilities, I found some even inspiring to maybe even try a different songwriting approach, and same with lead tones; found it adaptable to my style, and it works with another distortion pedal too just to add some texture; the six control knobs give you many options, and while it may take a little while longer to get the perfect sounds, they are there. Works awesome thru my Stratocaster and Jackson/Marshall Amp.JHS is always impressive. Quality made, solid effect.Paul has been putting out music for 40+ years, I was happy to play thru something that acknowledges his amazing and diverse style both he and JHS made.

This is a great "cocktail" pedal from JHS
This pedal is a "cocktail" pedal as described by Josh from JHS. Paul had a number of favorite JHS pedals on his board and Josh combined various elements from them. Essentially this pedal is comprised of Paul's favorite drive setting from the Bonsai, the sweepable mids from the Haunting Mids, and the amp sag you get from the Superbolt in the form of the "push" setting. It's a great pedal that covers a lot of ground.

The most unique distortion pedal I have ever used
Gotta start this by sharing that I have gone through tons of distortion/OD pedals. I can’t say I’ve been able to get as many different usable sounds out of any other dirt pedal. The ability to sweep the mid frequencies is a game changer. The Push knob really adds a unique character to this pedal. I could see how it isn’t for everyone, but I have just had so much fun playing it. Lots of pedals sound good, this one stands out as one that I look forward to playing. It makes me want to make music. It makes me want to hit the strings harder.I have been high on JHS pedals lately, and this one might have solidified them as my favorite pedal manufacturer currently.Highly recommended for anyone who likes to tinker.

Interesting sound
This pedal isn't for your average joe. It can be played by one though, for sure. It's a pedal that has incredible sound; If you mess around with it long enough, you'll find it. I use it on a Les Paul studio, now before I get roasted for playing a Les Paul, I was younger and dumber when I bought it nearly 10 years ago. But I digress. This pedal is really sensitive to the controls, especially the "push" knob. I really like this pedal because I can play lightly and you wouldn't hear the overdrive until I'm ready to give'r the beans. The push knob is what does that. I also pair it with my Boss DS1 and push the mids on that together and it sounds like a Ford F150 and a BMW M3 having seggs.

Adds gobs of mushy muddy mid-range to any signal chain!
I like Paul Gilbert. I really wanted to like this pedal. I don't like how this pedal de-articulates and adds gobs mid-range mud. For me, the "Push" effect is useless. Why so many mid-range controls... Why? 🧐I highly recommend the JHS Prestige boost pedal.
