On the coffee I ordered a month and 1/2 ago the best by date is 9/30/2016

How does this compare to Illy Dark Roast?

Illy is very good coffee. The Dark Roast has a bit more bitter taste than the Lavazza Tierra and for my taste I prefer the Lavazza.

Why does my subscription stop, claiming that the product is no longe available, but it is still available for about $2 more?

Make sure it is sold by same vendor. Also some of the subscriptions do not renew on their own, you need to renew it yourself
